Investigations and disputes are timely, costly, and, unfortunately, you don’t have to be the one to have done something wrong to find yourself in the situation. They pose a huge threat to your reputation, drain your time, and disrupt your life or business.
Whether it’s a personal issue, a commercial fallout, or a regulatory challenge, we can guarantee that our accredited experts have seen it before. From personal, local cases to commercial dispute resolution on a global scale, our forensic accountant team have the experience, expertise and the right tools to support you.
We understand the questions to ask, know our place with respect to the Court, counsel, other experts and our client, and can present our findings to a lay person.
Our decades of experience, wide-ranging sector knowledge, technical ability, attention to detail and communication skills allow us to assist clients in achieving desirable resolutions in a range of commercial disputes.
We provide initial advice pre-action, work as party expert, single joint expert or shadow expert in arbitration, mediation or litigation. We also act in expert determinations, acting as determinator or putting together submissions for an expert determination process.
We are happy to assist early on cases, particularly in fast-moving or sensitive circumstances, providing an initial view.
Our forensic accountant team act as expert witness preparing reports dealing with business valuation, liquidity and taxation issues in single joint expert, single party expert or shadow expert roles in cases ranging in sector and value. In valuing businesses we can draw on our team’s experience of valuing hundreds of businesses in a range of sectors.
We undertake forensic investigations, for example, involving suspected fraud or misconduct. Our team have been personally instructed by the Secretary of State to investigate allegedly fraudulent companies under Section 447 of the Companies Act. Other past investigations include bookkeeper frauds, whistleblowing cases and assisting a UK-client with their response to one of the first prosecutions under the Bribery Act.
Our team have worked on a range of criminal matters, acting for the defendant and the prosecution. We work on confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act, undertaking a review of the Defendant’s finances to assess the benefit made from criminal activity, along with the value of available assets.
We act for claimants and defendants as an adviser or expert. We can support clients in quantifying complex heads of claim, including pension losses. Our expert reports are well-reasoned and concise.
Our colleagues also provide associated services, including a whistleblower reporting service and a Financial Settlement Management service.
