WHAT IS ESG AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

ESG is a framework to understand how an organisation measures and reports on Environmental, Social, and Governance topics.

First and foremost, ESG is essential to meet today’s needs without endangering future generations.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Members in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership.

Responsible businesses that take action sooner rather than later will impact the world as well as benefitting their business.

  • The team have a commercial approach that adds value beyond the standard scope of services, we also benefited greatly from being able to draw on the technical knowledge and industry expertise within the wider AAB Group.

ESG & Other Non-financial Assurance

How do you evaluate your organisation?

Today, organisations are being evaluated by shareholders and 3rd parties using a broad range of performance indicators. ESG metrics are central to this. In a complex and quickly evolving environment non-financial assurance can give you and your stakeholders the confidence needed to trust the information that is unique to your organisation, naturally building trust and creating value.

How we can help.

Our team of assurance professionals can design tailored assurance or verification engagements to provide you with the level of comfort that you need. We are experienced, agile, and committed to working with your management teams to deliver quality outcomes.

We have a list of different solutions that we can offer. However, these engagements are by their nature bespoke. We’ll use your specific requirements to design an engagement that is tailored to you and your business

ESG Metric & Disclosure Assurance – We can provide you with limited or reasonable assurance over your internally / externally reported ESG metrics. These metrics are wide ranging and can take the form of carbon emission reporting, board diversity metrics, employment metrics or others that might be applicable to your business. Such engagements are typically performed under ISAE (UK) 3000.

ESG Linked Finance Related Assurance – Financial institutions are incorporating ESG targets into their product offerings. Not only can this help to drive positive change within society, it can also help your business to gain a commercial advantage. We can provide you with limited or reasonable assurance over such targets, as required by your financial institution or internally by those charged with governance. Such engagements are typically performed under ISAE (UK) 3000.

Agreed Upon Procedures – Should you require verification of your data only, we can provide a report based on a set of Agreed Upon Procedures, rather than limited or reasonable assurance. Procedures are mutually agreed based on the verification that you desire. Engagements structured in this way can be based on a wide range of subject matters, covering ESG or other internal data sources, and are commonly used for grant or other agreement compliance. Agreed Upon Procedures engagements are performed under ISRS 4400.
