COVID-19 – Support for Third Sector organisations

BLOG14th Apr 2020

Four weeks ago, the First Minister announced that the Scottish government was establishing a £350 million emergency package of support for communities, which included a £50 million wellbeing fund for Third Sector organisations.

£10 million of this was been allocated for immediate priorities, and £7 million allocated to support around 2,000 charities with small grants.

With regards to the majority of the funding (up to £33 million), the First Minister announced that expressions of interest can be registered from today (13th April 2020). Visit the SCVO website for further information.

The First Minister encouraged those organisations who need funding to continue providing important services, or if they have good ideas for new services which could help people at these difficult times, to apply for funds.

In addition to the above, details of a wide range of funding available to support Third Sector organisations at this time can be found at:

With some funding, for example the Charities Aid Foundation Coronavirus Emergency Fund, currently paused due to high demand, we encourage Third Sector organisations who require access to funding to register interests and make applications as soon as possible.
