A Candid Conversation on the Future of Family Businesses
AAB / Our Team / Rosario Marquez
LinkedIn
Individuals. Families. Business owners.
Research. Strategy. Clarity. Compliance. Collaboration.
Baes in our London office, Rosario Marquez is a Paraplanner within the AAB Wealth team, supporting planners and clients through detailed analysis, clear documentation, and a genuine commitment to accuracy. After starting in the financial services industry six years ago, Rosario quickly realised that the world of paraplanning was where her skills and passions aligned perfectly, combining technical knowledge with the chance to make a real difference in clients’ financial futures. Watching how paraplanners translate complex strategies into clarity and confidence for clients inspired her to pursue this path wholeheartedly. Today, Rosario plays a key role behind the scenes, ensuring that every piece of advice provided to clients is well-researched, compliant, and easy to understand.
“No two weeks are ever quite the same for me and that’s one of the things I love about paraplanning. My days are often filled with collaboration between our Client Support team and our Planners, preparing detailed Suitability Reports, and ensuring every piece of advice is backed by solid research. I spend a lot of time reviewing client information, conducting technical analysis, and testing different planning scenarios to make sure our advice aligns with each client’s goals and circumstances.
While much of my work happens behind the scenes, it directly shapes the experience clients have with our team. Whether it’s modelling a retirement strategy, reviewing investment options, or ensuring compliance with the latest regulations, my aim is always the same, to make sure clients feel informed, confident, and supported.”
“Early in my financial services career, I was fascinated by how paraplanners played a pivotal role in shaping advice – not just crunching numbers, but crafting understanding. Watching that process unfold made me realise that this was the role where I could make the most impact.
I wanted to combine my analytical nature with my desire to help people make confident financial decisions. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how thoughtful research and a well-crafted report can change how someone feels about their future. Pursuing this career wasn’t just about finance, it was about communication, accuracy, and helping people feel secure in their next steps.”
“Even though I don’t always meet clients face-to-face, I take great pride in contributing to strong, trusting relationships. For me, accuracy and clarity are non-negotiable – they’re the foundation of any good financial plan.
One case I’ll always remember involved a client nearing retirement with multiple income streams and legacy investments. Although it was complex, with significant tax and Centrelink implications, I worked closely with the adviser to simplify each strategy into clear summaries, outlining pros, cons, and outcomes. Those summaries helped the adviser communicate the plan clearly, and the client walked away feeling informed and reassured.
What made that process work wasn’t just technical skill; it was empathy. Anticipating client concerns and presenting information in a way that felt approachable – that’s where real trust is built.”
“The most satisfying part of my role is knowing that my work has a real impact on people’s lives. Whether it’s helping someone prepare for retirement, plan for their children’s future, or simply gain confidence in their financial path, I love being part of that journey.
It’s fulfilling to know that the research and reports I create don’t just sit in a file, they help people make decisions that give them peace of mind. That sense of purpose drives me every day.”
“The financial world changes quickly – new legislation, new technology, new client needs. I make it a priority to stay ahead of those changes by regularly attending CPD sessions, following industry updates, and working closely with our compliance and planning teams to make sure our advice remains accurate and forward-thinking.
Right now, I’m deepening my skills in cashflow modelling tools like Voyant and continuing my financial planning qualifications. I’m also passionate about emerging areas like ESG and sustainable finance which are topics that are increasingly meaningful to clients and to me personally. Continuous learning is essential in paraplanning; it means I can support advisers and clients with up-to-date, relevant insight.”
“One of the best things about working at AAB Wealth is the culture of teamwork and trust. We all share the same goal to give clients clarity and confidence in their financial future. I’m proud to be part of a team that values precision, empathy, and innovation in equal measure.
Everyone here understands that the best advice is built collaboratively. From planners to paraplanners to support staff, every contribution matters. And that’s what makes our client relationships and the results so strong.”
