“MAKING A DIFFERENCE WHERE IT COUNTS”

Based in our London office, Melanie Chart is a highly skilled HR Manager with a varied and dynamic role and currently Melanie develops and implements HR business partner support to Orange Cyber Defence. With a keen eye for aligning people strategies with business goals, Melanie is passionate about developing high-performing teams and delivering tailored HR solutions that create real impact.

PARTNERSHIPS BUILT ON TRUST

“An ideal client relationship is open, honest and trustworthy. I want my clients to feel they can pick up the phone and speak freely, knowing that I’ll always listen and keep their interests at the heart of everything I do. I aim to help clients navigate complex situations while protecting their organisation and people. Therefore, I provide guidance through the process with transparency and professionalism.”

FROM IMPOSSIBLE TO REALITY

“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a situation that once seemed impossible come to life. Whether it’s supporting a challenging restructure or turning A project around, I love being part of the journey and seeing the difference that great HR can make. I get the same satisfaction working with my colleagues. Sharing knowledge and challenging each other allows us to come together and deliver exceptional service for our clients.”

A PEOPLE FOCUSED AND ADAPTABLE APPROACH

“Having worked as a consultant for several years, I’m known for my ability to hit the ground running with new clients. I adapt quickly to new environments, systems and policies, but what really matters to me is building strong relationships.

I am a real ‘people’ person, and I love to get meetings in the diary to introduce myself to my clients as soon as possible. That’s how we achieve great things together. In my role, people are at the centre of everything I do, and I aim to be flexible in how I work to provide a service that suits them best.”

BALANCING VIRTUAL WITH FACE-TO-FACE

“While being virtual is brilliant for efficiency and speed, there is real value in face-to-face time. That’s where strong relationships are built, and deeper conversations are had. Wherever practical, I encourage in-person interactions, as they allow me to truly understand the people culture I’m supporting.”

EXPLAINING THE WHY

“One of the biggest challenges in HR is helping clients understand employment law and the policies and procedures that come with it. They are there to protect both the organisation and it’s people. As a result, there are steps which need to be taken to ensure there is a fair and responsible approach. Sometimes when clients are under pressure, I need to slow things down and explain the rationale behind the particular process. I do this with kindness, in a way that’s informative. Helping clients to understand the risks and benefits ensures they are confident in our approach.”

LEARNING TOGETHER

“What excites me the most about the future is continuing to learn and grow with a team of like-minded HR professionals. Collaborating with them is at the heart of everything I do. If I learn something useful, I want to pass it on. I embrace the idea of contributing my own experiences while picking up new perspectives along the way. As a team, we solve problems, brainstorm ideas and draw on each other’s strengths. Our collaborative culture allows us to create better outcomes for our clients, for our colleagues and for ourselves.”

LEADERSHIP THAT DELIVERS

“One of the greatest compliments I have ever received was ‘without my leadership, a failing project wouldn’t have been delivered’. I don’t shy away from a challenge, and I’m comfortable pushing boundaries or challenging the norm where necessary to encourage a better outcome, but I do so respectfully with people in mind. Feedback like this is invaluable and really affirms that I am making a difference where it counts.”

MORE THAN JUST POLICIES AND PAPERWORK

“Often people mistake HR as being the ‘policy or fun-stopping police’, when in fact we’re here to help clients and their people thrive. Yes, sometimes we have to make difficult decisions or guide people through tough situations, but we do it with compassion, clarity and a clear view of the bigger picture.”
