Family business.

“Exceeding client expectations is a target I set every day. “

Malachy is Head of Corporate Tax and prides himself on finding innovative tax solutions for his clients. He supports a wide range of owner-managed family businesses, and he has been lucky to work with some of the largest businesses across the island of Ireland over the last 25 years. He uses this experience to provide practical strategic business advice alongside smart tax planning opportunities to empower people and their businesses to take ownership of their destiny.

SOUND IT OUT

“Clients come to us for all sorts of reasons. Whether it’s to sound off ideas, fine tune actions, or contribute to their wider strategic vision. No matter what it is it’s our job to listen, be responsive to their needs, challenge their thinking and provide smart solutions. Exceeding client expectations is a target I set every day. At the heart of successfully designing a smooth, seamless client experience sits a deep awareness of clients’ needs and expectations. It is the core that enables me to navigate the path between being bold and imaginative, and working through the realities of the current constraints – combining awareness, imagination and perseverance is key to success.”

‘WALKING THE WALK’ TOGETHER

“One of our core values in AAB is that ‘nothing is more important than our people’ and I fully believe that this is the cornerstone for everything that we do. Whether it’s our staff or our clients, people are at the centre. A common cliché is that tax advisers are boring – to those that truly believe this, I’d love for them to spend a day in our company where you’ll soon realise that’s certainly not the case. Where the numbers make up a portion, the majority comes from understanding people and building positive relationships where there’s trust and frequent communication. I’ve been commended before on my ability to ‘walk the walk’ with the client, being with them every step of the way, whenever they need me – if you can’t do that, this probably isn’t the job for you.”

“IF YOU’RE GOING THROUGH HELL KEEP GOING” – WINSTON CHURCHILL

“I think one of my greatest strengths is my resilience and perseverance. Winston Churchill has a quote that says: “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” No win is achieved without mistakes along the way and it’s important to remember that it’s not the mistakes that define you, it’s the way you overcome them and move forward that’s important.

We work in a competitive environment, surrounded by constant change which makes every day a challenge, it can be difficult at times, but I think it’s what keeps me sharp. It’s easy to tell clients what they’d like to hear but at the end of the day that’s not what we’re here to do.  We’ll always tell you what we think and by fully understanding your destiny we can make sure we are all moving in the right direction.”
