Meet the Tax team

Lewis Forsyth is a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager based in Aberdeen. His role involves working closely with companies to ensure that they are aware of their Corporation Tax responsibilities, whilst also providing valuable advice on how to ensure businesses are being as tax efficient as possible, in line with the current legislation. He also specialises in the preparation of Research and Development Tax relief claims, which provide companies with generous relief for the expenditure they have incurred on advancing their product or service offering above the industry baseline.
Lewis works with a diverse range of businesses, from owner-managed enterprises to large corporations, helping them access valuable tax incentives that support growth and innovation. His role extends beyond compliance— by proactively identifying opportunities for businesses to maximise tax efficiencies in line with current legislation, ensuring that they can reinvest in their future.
“The ideal client relationship is built on trust. Whether I’m working on a one-off project or providing year-round support, I want clients to feel confident in the advice I give and understand it in a clear, accessible way. Continuous communication is key. Corporation tax isn’t something that should only be considered at year-end. By maintaining an open dialogue throughout the year, I can identify tax planning opportunities that might otherwise be missed, helping businesses stay proactive rather than reactive.”
“I love working with clients, getting to know them, and delivering practical advice that allows them to focus on growing their business. Understanding what they do and what drives them is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
At AAB, the level of knowledge and expertise across all of our service lines is incredible, and the collaborative culture is what truly sets us apart. Since joining the firm in 2022, I’ve seen how we tackle challenges together—no one is left struggling alone. The support from colleagues, from peers to senior leadership, makes AAB a fantastic place to work. It’s this team approach that ensures we consistently deliver the best results for our clients.”
“Tax legislation is often long and complicated, and it’s my job to break it down into clear, practical and readable advice for clients. One of the biggest challenges in my field is staying ahead of changing tax rules and ensuring our clients are doing everything they can to maximise their tax saving rather than being caught off guard.
R&D tax relief, in particular, has gone through significant changes in recent years, with HMRC shifting its approach to claims. This can be frustrating for businesses that have consistently made claims for years, only to find the goalposts have moved. However, challenges like these also present opportunities. By staying on top of the latest developments, I can guide businesses through these changes, ensuring their claims remain compliant and they continue to receive the benefits they’re entitled to.”
“From the moment I joined AAB, this value was clear in everything we do. We don’t just provide services—we strive to continuously improve so that clients receive the best possible experience. That commitment influences how I approach my work every day. Whether it’s a complex tax planning issue or a straightforward compliance matter, my goal is to always add value and help clients achieve their business objectives.”
“The rapid growth of AAB has been exciting to be a part of. With expansion comes the opportunity to work with a wider range of clients, across different sectors and locations. This exposure allows me to develop new skills, tackle diverse challenges, and continually improve the way I support clients.
For me, the most exciting part of the future is the chance to step outside my comfort zone, grow alongside the firm, and take on new and interesting projects. AAB’s trajectory means there’s always something new on the horizon, and I’m looking forward to being part of that journey.”
