“TRANSFORMING OBJECTIVES TO PEOPLE-FOCUSED PLANS FOR OUR TEAM & CLIENTS”

Hannah Wilson is People and Culture Business Partner based in our Leeds office, supporting our Audit department across all AAB locations, as well as other central business departments. Working closely with senior leadership – Partners and Directors in particular – Hannah is responsible for turning strategic business objectives into people-focused plans that support long-term success and enable our team to provide the best possible service to our clients.

As a generalist HR professional, Hannah is exposed to the full employee lifecycle in her role and is passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing culture across AAB. She plays a key role in ensuring that AAB has the right people in the right roles at the right time, with the skills and support they need to thrive and support our clients both now and in the future.

Understanding the need of the business & our clients

“I focus on aligning talent and capability with business ambition and am driven to help individuals and teams reach their full potential to allow them to go above and beyond for our clients.

By building strong relationships and truly understanding the challenges of a professional services environment and its clients, I offer honest, constructive advice that helps our leaders make confident decisions that achieve meaningful results for the team and our clients.”

A supportive challenge

“I’ve always believed that the best client relationships are built on a foundation of trust. But to me, I believe it goes beyond that—meaningful partnerships develop when we understand not just what a team or client needs right now, but what they’ll need in the future. I try to bring this in-depth insight to every conversation I have and don’t shy away from challenging the status quo if I believe it will support growth, development, and better outcomes for our team and clients.

I want the people I work with to feel both supported and empowered and know that what I say I will do, I will do.”

People first approach

“It may sound cliche, but I believe that nothing is more important than our people and clients. By supporting our team it enables them to provide our clients with the best possible service and support.

I’ve seen first-hand the value of people feeling seen, supported and encouraged to be themselves at work. To me, there’s no better feeling than watching someone develop in their career whether that’s taking on a new role, finding their voice as a leader, or pushing themselves outside their comfort zone. Helping the team reach their potential has to be the most rewarding part of my job.”

Shaping the future of HR

“One of the things I’m most passionate about is challenging outdated views of HR. Too often, HR is seen as purely administrative or reactive. I see HR as a strategic enabler and a driving force for business success. It’s about balancing compassion with consistency, support with challenge, and the needs of individuals with the priorities of the business.

I’m always looking for new ideas and more efficient ways of doing things. I want to help reshape how HR is perceived and position it where it belongs – at the heart of any business.  I really feel that, that is the case here at AAB.”

The advantages of a hybrid approach

“I’m a strong advocate for hybrid working, combining the efficiency of digital with the value of in-person.

Virtual working is essential for creating a more inclusive and flexible workforce. It allows teams to find balance in their personal and professional lives, promoting well-being and enabling relationships to develop by breaking down the barriers of in-person communication only.

But human interaction is hard to replicate virtually and that’s why I also recognise the value of face-to-face connection to encourage collaboration and learning, whether that be with clients or team members.”

Excited for what’s ahead

“There is unlimited potential at AAB and that’s one of the things that drew me to the business. There’s a real appetite for growth, innovation, and doing things differently, and I find that refreshing.

I’m looking forward to being part of AAB’s growth journey, helping the team and the business grow, develop and continue to provide the best service to our clients.

For me personally, I’m excited by the opportunity to continue learning and developing in my career. I want to keep challenging myself, progressing, and making a meaningful impact.”
