Dominic Grimes is a Business Advisory Partner based in our Bolton office. With a wealth of experience supporting SMEs, GP practices, and owner-managed businesses, he plays a key role in helping clients make strategic decisions, optimise their organisation, and plan effectively for tax.

Leading the Business Advisory team in Bolton, Dom ensures the team operates efficiently and cohesively, creating an environment where people can develop, collaborate, and deliver the best possible service. Passionate about building connections, he thrives on bringing the right people together- whether that’s within the team or by matching clients with the expertise they need to succeed.

Supporting businesses to flourish

“For me, the most rewarding part of my work is seeing a business transform and I love being part of that transformation. I work alongside business owners and their teams to help make ideas become a reality, I support in identifying roadblocks and help to evolve their systems and processes. Watching that business evolve, grow, and ultimately thrive is what drives me. But it’s not just about the numbers—it’s about understanding what success looks like for each client and helping them achieve it in a way that aligns with their vision. That’s why I believe in a two-way relationship built on trust. When clients know we’re in their corner, supporting them every step of the way, that’s when the real progress happens.”

People first

“A business is nothing without its people, and I’m a firm believer in creating an environment where teams feel valued, motivated, and excited about their work. One of the most satisfying aspects of my role is seeing colleagues grow—whether it’s a junior team member finding their confidence or a senior colleague stepping into a new challenge. Being someone, they can bounce ideas off, knowing they have the support to push themselves, and seeing them accomplish things they never thought possible—that’s incredibly fulfilling.

At the end of the day, we all spend a huge part of our lives at work, so I want to ensure it’s an environment people enjoy. It’s easy to take hard work for granted, but recognising and appreciating the contributions of the team is essential. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to deliver the service we do for our clients.”

Harnessing technology to drive efficiency

“Technology has transformed the way we work, and in many ways, it’s made things quicker, more cost-effective, and more efficient. But for me, technology should never replace the personal side of business—it should enhance it. I like to be hands-on with clients, build strong relationships, and gain a deep understanding of their business. That trust and connection allow us to deliver the best possible results.

Yes, tech enables us to process jobs faster and with more accuracy, but numbers on a screen don’t tell the whole story. By staying actively involved with clients, I make sure they don’t just get a service—they get a partnership that helps their business grow.”

Navigating complexities in the medical sector

“One of the biggest challenges in my field is keeping up with constant government changes, particularly in the medical sector. Working with GP practices and NHS professionals is a niche area, and their income reporting, pension structures, and tax implications are uniquely complex. Understanding the full impact of new legislation and proactively advising clients is crucial.

As part of AISMA, the specialist medical accounting association we have access to a network of expert accountants across the UK. This helps ensure that the advice and support we provide are always up-to-date and tailored to the specific needs of medical professionals. For our clients, this means peace of mind—they know we’re ahead of the changes, so they don’t have to worry about them.”

AAB: A new chapter & exciting opportunities

“Joining AAB marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for me. Being part of a larger group opens up opportunities to collaborate, learn, and push me in new ways. I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me, the whole team and how I can continue to add value—not just to clients but also to the wider team.”

Bringing people together

“If I had to sum up my greatest strength, it’s my ability to connect people. Whether it’s businesses with the right experts, colleagues with opportunities to develop, or clients with the support they need to grow, I love making those connections happen. For me, work is about more than just the technical side of accounting—it’s about relationships. That’s what makes the job exciting, rewarding, and meaningful.”
