“Focused on delivering reliable, effective advice for clients”

As a Business Advisory Assistant Manager based in our Aberdeen office, Chloe Singer supports a diverse range of clients with all things from statutory accounts, management reporting, cloud accounting, outsourcing support to VAT. She works closely with other teams across AAB, collaborating with specialists in Indirect Tax, Payroll and Audit to deliver joined-up solutions for her clients. Driven by a long-standing passion for numbers and a genuine enthusiasm for problem-solving, Chloe approaches each client relationship ready for the next challenge, continually learning and developing from her experiences.

Tailored support for every business

“For me, building strong and lasting client relationships begins with understanding. Taking the time to genuinely get to know a client, their goals, challenges, pressures and ways of working, is non-negotiable. It’s the only way to tailor my support effectively and ensure the advice I provide is genuinely useful.

Early in my career, I worked with a client who had been in their organisation for many years, and developing trust didn’t happen overnight. What made the relationship work was consistency: consistently delivering high-quality work, consistently communicating, and consistently showing commitment. That experience taught me the value of patience and perseverance when it comes to building great client relationships.

What I enjoy most is the variety of people I meet and learn from. Working with clients from different industries, backgrounds and perspectives keeps my role fresh and rewarding. Every conversation gives me a new insight, sometimes into their operations, sometimes into how they think, and sometimes into my own approach.”

The power of collaboration

“One of the things I find most rewarding about being part of AAB is the collective mindset. Collaboration isn’t just encouraged, it’s part of how we operate. I feel fortunate to work alongside teams who are generous with their knowledge and ideas, and that willingness to share is a big part of what makes our solutions stronger for clients.

Supporting junior colleagues is another aspect of my role that I value. Mentoring others not only helps them grow, but also sharpens my own skills and broadens my perspective. Seeing someone gain confidence, develop new capabilities, or overcome a challenge is incredibly fulfilling.

A recent example of this collaborative approach involved identifying a discrepancy for one of my clients. Once spotted, I coordinated with the relevant internal teams and external parties to resolve it quickly, keeping the client informed at every step. The issue was fixed efficiently, but just as importantly, the process strengthened the trust between us. Clear communication and transparency are often just as valuable as the technical work itself.”

Helping Clients Feel Confident

“The greatest compliment I’ve received came from a client who told me I had helped them finally understand their accounting system. They said they felt genuinely confident after our session, and that feedback meant a lot. My job isn’t only to deliver accurate and timely financial information, it’s also to ensure clients feel informed, empowered and supported. When someone walks away understanding their numbers better, it’s a win.”

What I bring to the table

“Attention to detail is one of my strongest attributes. I take pride in precision and accuracy across everything I produce. Communication is another key strength, particularly when managing deadlines or navigating unexpected challenges. I also adapt quickly to new systems and technologies, something that’s become especially valuable through my work in digital advisory.”

Challenges in a Changing Profession

“Business advisory work changes quickly. Regulations evolve, client systems differ, and data comes from countless sources. One of the ongoing challenges is staying up-to-date while ensuring everything remains integrated, accurate and compliant. I also balance mentoring junior team members with my own development, which requires staying proactive and organised.”

clearing up MISCONCEPTIONS

“A common misconception is that accountancy is all about number-crunching. The modern role is far more strategic than that. Yes, accuracy matters, but so does using technology effectively, analysing trends and helping clients make smart, informed decisions.”

Looking Ahead

“Technology is transforming our profession, and I believe embracing it is essential. From automation to AI, digital tools offer real opportunities to increase efficiency and deliver deeper insights for clients. I’m excited to continue developing my skills in this area and exploring how these advancements can enhance our work, not replace it.”
