HOW I HELP

Resourcing across the audit & assurance team.

“BUILDING TEAM SUCCESS THAT DRIVES CLIENT SUCCESS.”

Based in our Glasgow office, Catherine Teenan is the Audit Resourcing Manager, specialising in balancing capacity and resource allocation within the audit team. Her focus on efficiency and problem-solving means that projects run smoothly, with manageable workloads and smart use of time. Catherine’s role is dynamic, with responsibilities that can change week to week, including managing resourcing conflicts and challenges, coordinating new bookings, and overseeing annual leave requests. She also plays a crucial role in monitoring and reporting on time billed versus non-chargeable time, tracking utilisation rates, and comparing budgets. By effectively coordinating these resources and managing operational complexities, Catherine helps ensure that clients receive expert support from skilled professionals every step of the way.

BUILDING TRUST BEHIND THE SCENES

“For me, building strong relationships is fundamental to my role because it encourages trust, open communication, and collaboration. By truly understanding the challenges and perspectives of my team, I can provide tailored support that aligns with their needs and priorities. This connection allows me to anticipate potential issues early and work proactively to balance workloads and capacity. Ultimately, it’s about being a dependable partner behind the scenes; someone who helps create a smooth and efficient working environment where everyone has the resources and support they need to succeed.”

STRENGTHS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

“I see resourcing like a game of Tetris, where every piece has its place. My biggest strength is my ability to dive deep into the data and reports, spotting trends and issues that affect how time and resources are used. This approach means I can identify any potential challenges and work out creative solutions to prevent them.”

TURNING CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES

“One of the biggest challenges I face is ensuring deadlines are met, but I have learnt to take a step back, see the bigger picture, and make the most of every available option. In these moments, flexibility and perseverance are essential. They’ve taught me the value of resilience and the importance of maintaining open communication across all teams to manage expectations and keep priorities aligned.”

FINDING THE RIGHT PEOPLE, AT THE RIGHT TIME

“Finding the right people at the right time can make all the difference in helping everything run smoothly and efficiently. One rewarding example of this involved helping the Audit team meet a challenging deadline by swiftly reallocating resources and adjusting schedules to ensure the task was completed. The appreciation I received from both colleagues and clients reinforced just how valuable my role can be. By ensuring the right people were in place, we avoided delays and maintained the high standard our clients expect. It’s moments like these, when strategic planning and teamwork come together, that make my work genuinely fulfilling.”

GROWING TOGETHER WITH AAB

“Being part of an organisation that values efficiency, teamwork, and client service motivates me every day. At AAB, there’s a real sense of shared purpose; we’re all working toward common goals, and that creates an environment where collaboration and support are second nature. I’ve been trusted to shape a new function from the ground up, and that level of ownership is both empowering and rewarding.

Whether it’s refining how we allocate time, improving reporting processes, or helping the Audit team work smarter, there’s always encouragement to try new ideas and look for better ways of doing things. It’s exciting to be part of a business that’s always evolving, and I’m proud to contribute to that journey.”

STAYING AHEAD WITH TECHNOLOGY

“I’m looking forward to further developing my skills in resource planning technologies and data analytics tools that can make resourcing even more effective and agile. Staying current with trends helps me bring new ideas to the table and improve how we manage workload and capacity. I’m always eager to learn and embrace solutions that benefit both the team and our clients.”
