“SUPPORTING BUSINESSES WITH CLARITY, CONFIDENCE AND CONNECTION.”

Based in our Edinburgh office, Ben Weston is a Corporate Finance Assistant Manager who works closely with clients across a range of sectors to deliver tailored financial advice. With a calm and structured approach, Ben supports businesses through every stage of their financial journey – whether that’s helping navigate complex accounting issues, leading assurance engagements, or simply being a reliable point of contact. He combines technical strength with commercial understanding and a people-first mindset, ensuring his advice is not only accurate but impactful. Ben is also a mentor to our junior team members and a trusted collaborator across the wider AAB team.

RELATIONSHIPS BUILT ON TRUST

“Building strong relationships with clients is at the heart of how I work, and I believe it starts with listening from day one. For me, it’s non-negotiable. I take the time at the start and throughout the process to understand each client’s business goals and how they prefer to work, so I can tailor my approach in a way that works for them.

I once worked with a client who had limited experience working with advisors, but by being open, consistent and clear in my communication, we built a relationship grounded in mutual trust. That approach has stayed with me throughout my career and is what makes it so rewarding.”

TURNING COMPLEXITY INTO CLARITY

“One key strength I’ve gained in my experience is my people-first approach. No matter the client I’m working with, I like to break down technical complexity into something that’s clear, actionable, and meaningful for clients, as behind every deal we do is a team of people. Whether it’s financial modelling or wider strategic discussions, I focus on communicating in a way that builds understanding and confidence. Clients appreciate having someone who’s not only across the details but who can translate them practically. I take pride in being that bridge.”

FACING CHALLENGES WITH CONFIDENCE

Stepping into a leadership role while still delivering technically was one of the biggest challenges in my career. It taught me the importance of balancing priorities, delegating effectively, and being present for my team. At the same time, working in a fast-paced environment means complexity and pressure are never far away. However, staying organised, communicating clearly, and breaking down problems into manageable steps for both clients and colleagues is what ensures a successful outcome.”

TECH THAT DELIVERS

“I’m a firm believer that technology should make things simpler, not more complicated. I’m excited to see how data analytics and modern financial tools can enhance the work we do and help clients make faster, better decisions.

DELIVERING WHEN IT COUNTS

“A client once came to us when they were under significant time pressure to deliver a complex financial project involving multiple stakeholders. Expectations were high, and timelines were tight, but working closely with their internal team, I streamlined communication and kept everyone aligned. We not only delivered ahead of schedule but gave them the confidence they needed to take the decisive action.”

COLLABORATING DRIVES RESULTS

“What stands out most to me about AAB is the collaborative culture. There’s a genuine sense of support and shared purpose. Whether that’s knowledge-sharing, working through tight deadlines, or celebrating wins as a team. That kind of environment not only helps us deliver better results for clients but makes the day-to-day more rewarding too.”

NOT JUST NUMBERS

“There’s a common misconception that Corporate Finance is all about the numbers. But the real value lies in interpretation, judgment and strategic thinking. One of the best compliments I’ve received from a client was, ‘You made a stressful process feel manageable.’ That stood out because it reflects that Corporate Finance is not just a technical role, but values the importance of empathy, communication, and being a calm, trusted advisor when it matters most.”
