Leading professional services firm AAB has launched a dedicated Governance, Risk & Compliance practice with the appointment of governance specialist Jason Davies as Partner, based in the firm’s London office.

The new practice has been established in response to increasing governance, regulatory and compliance demands facing businesses. Recent legislative and governance reforms have significantly increased expectations around accountability, risk management and internal controls, creating new challenges for mid-market organisations that often lack the infrastructure traditionally associated with larger listed companies.

The Governance, Risk & Compliance practice expands AAB’s suite of business-critical advisory services, supporting organisations to strengthen governance frameworks, manage risk effectively and respond confidently to an evolving regulatory environment. The service will also draw on AAB’s long-standing experience delivering managed whistleblowing services, providing practical insight into the governance and cultural challenges businesses face in real-world environments.

Jason Davies, Partner, Governance, Risk & Compliance, AAB, said:

“Businesses are facing growing expectations around governance, risk management and accountability, but many don’t have the resources of larger listed organisations. Our goal is to help clients put in place practical frameworks that strengthen decision-making, reduce risk and support long-term growth without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

“What attracted me to AAB was its practical approach to governance. Through AAB Whistleblowing, the firm has spent more than a decade helping organisations hear and respond to concerns from their people. That gives us real-world insight into the challenges businesses face and allows us to deliver advice grounded in experience, not theory.”

Jason joins AAB with more than 30 years’ experience spanning professional services, industry leadership and non-executive roles. He spent much of his career at Deloitte, becoming an Equity Partner, before serving as Chief Audit and Risk Officer at Tesco, where he led governance, risk and internal audit activity during a period of significant transformation and regulatory scrutiny. He later advised FTSE 100 chief audit executives at Gartner and continues to hold a portfolio of non-executive positions.

Working with clients across the mid-market and large corporate sectors, Jason will support organisations in strengthening governance arrangements, managing regulatory obligations and embedding effective risk management practices.

David Purse, Head of Employment, Pay & People, AAB, said:

“Good governance is about much more than controls and compliance. It’s closely linked to culture, leadership and how organisations engage with their people.

“Jason brings exceptional board-level experience, and his appointment strengthens our ability to help clients address governance, risk and culture as part of a joined-up business agenda. By combining his expertise with the strengths already within our Employment, Pay & People team, we’re able to offer clients a more holistic approach to building resilient, well-governed organisations.”

Jason’s appointment reflects AAB’s continued investment in specialist advisory services for mid-market and large corporate clients. Backed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, the firm employs more than 1,800 people and generates more than £200 million in revenue, continuing to expand through strategic acquisitions, investment and senior leadership appointments.
