As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, it has been confirmed by the Government Equalities Office (GEO) and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) that there is a suspension to the gender pay gap reporting for 2019/20. On this basis, there will be no requirement for employers to report their information this year.
The decision has come due to the uncertainty and pressure being faced by employers at this time as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In normal circumstances, failure to report gender pay gap data would lead to investigation and employers could face unlimited fines, court action and bad publicity.
A number of employers have already reported their 2019/20 data (over 3,000 or 26% of the anticipated businesses who were due to report) and the GEO have advised that they will continue to provide the support required to employers if they do still wish to report their data for 2019/20.
If you are unsure about what Government support package is available to your business, we are here to help. For further information on the suspension or assistance with your gender pay gap reporting, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
