“Making the complex, simple.”

Niamh is a Tax Manager with experience across both corporate and personal tax, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to private individuals. Her role focuses on ensuring compliance obligations are met while also identifying opportunities for tax-efficient planning, helping clients make informed decisions.

She began her career in audit, where she developed a strong understanding of financial reporting and how businesses operate in practice. This foundation continues to shape her approach to tax, allowing her to consider not just the technical position, but the broader commercials too. Moving into tax enabled her to focus more closely on advisory work, where she supports clients in navigating increasingly complex tax matters. Alongside her client responsibilities, she also reviews tax returns and contributes to the development of the team in the earlier stages of their careers.

From audit to advisory

“I started my career in audit, which gave me a solid grounding in how financial information is prepared and how businesses operate day-to-day.

Over time, I found myself particularly interested in the tax aspects of engagements and the opportunity to advise clients. Moving into tax allowed me to focus more on that advisory element, which I found both challenging and rewarding.

The transition required a different way of thinking, with a stronger focus on legislation and interpretation. It reinforced the importance of adaptability and continuous learning, particularly in a field that is constantly evolving.”

Bringing clarity to complexity

“One of the most satisfying aspects of my role is helping clients gain clarity around complex tax matters. Tax legislation can be difficult to navigate, so being able to explain it in a clear and practical way is really important.

Whether it’s advising a business on its tax position or supporting an individual with personal planning, the focus is always on making sure they understand the options available and the implications of each decision.

It’s about simplifying complexity and helping clients feel confident in the choices they are making.”

A more tax-efficient approach to succession

“I recently worked with a client who was looking to organise their personal tax affairs as part of wider family planning. They wanted to ensure their finances were structured efficiently while also considering future succession.

By reviewing their overall position and discussing their long-term goals, we were able to identify a more tax-efficient approach and provide clarity around their options.

It was rewarding to help the client drive forward their plans for the future in an informed, tax-efficient way.”

More than compliance

“A common misconception is that tax is purely about filing returns. While compliance is an important part of the role, there is a much broader advisory element.

Tax touches many aspects of business and personal finance, so planning ahead and understanding the wider implications is key.

The role is about helping clients make informed decisions, not just meeting deadlines.”

Together, we find the best solutions

“The collaborative culture within the team is something that really stands out. There is a strong willingness to share knowledge and work together to find the best solutions for clients. It benefits us too as we are constantly learning and developing.”

Looking ahead

“Tax is constantly evolving, with legislation and guidance changing regularly. Staying up to date is essential.

For me, that means continuing to develop both technically and from an advisory perspective, reading consistently, continuously learning. As the profession evolves, technology and data are also becoming increasingly important, and I’m keen to continue building my skills in that area. There are efficiencies to be gained I’m sure and that will free us up more to spend time with clients. I look forward to continuing to expand my knowledge in tax.”
