BUSINESS ADVISORY (ABERDEEN, EDINBURGH, GLASGOW, STIRLING, BELFAST AND NEWRY)


What does my team do?

We have an extremely varied role within the Business Advisory team, which can be involved in anything from preparation of annual statutory accounts, monthly and quarterly management reporting, assisting with client outsourcing requirements, cloud accounting and VAT return preparation. The team also benefits from working closely with other service lines and having the opportunity to support clients across various sectors.

Why I love my job?

I enjoy the variety that comes with my role and the opportunity to work with such an extensive range of clients from different industries and backgrounds, as every day brings about a new challenge. I also feel very lucky to work with a great group of colleagues within the Business Advisory team, as this plays a huge part in my day-to-day role, and really is what makes the firm stand out in my opinion.

What does my team do?

We work with companies of all sizes, from start-ups and family businesses to multinationals. This can involve supporting in the navigation of a merger, making a strategic acquisition or the selling of a business.

Why I love my job?

The varied nature of my work is something I enjoy, working with businesses of differing sizes, sectors and locations means two jobs are never the same.  The job is also extremely social, being an inquisitive and people person goes a long way!

CORPORATE TAX (ABERDEEN, BELFAST, EDINBURGH, GLASGOW, STIRLING AND NEWRY)


What does my team do?

We work with clients to support their Corporate Tax needs. This varies from Tax Compliance to Advisory work covering specialisms including International and Large Corporate, Innovation Tax and Expertise, Expertise to Entrepreneurial Taxes and Tax Audit. We work collaboratively across offices to service our clients who vary in size, background, and industry. With the breadth of areas we cover, every day is different.

Why I love my job

I get to work with amazing people who support my development in lots of different ways. I feel trusted to take initiative to accomplish tasks and I’m encouraged to work on my personal goals. I really like the flexibility we have and the modern attitude the firm takes to working. The office also has a great buzz and there’s lots of young people – so the social life is a bonus!

GLOBAL EMPLOYMENT TAXES (ABERDEEN, EDINBURGH, GLASGOW AND LONDON)


What does my team do?

We work with clients across all sectors advising and completing relevant reporting on all Employment Tax related matters. This can be ad hoc queries to full projects such as PAYE reviews. We focus on areas such as expenses and benefits, employment status and off payroll workers, termination payments, employment related securities. We ensure that our clients are compliant with ever changing legislation and that our clients understand any implications for both the Company and their employees.

Why I love my job?

The employment tax world is highly technical, no matter where you are within the team you are checking legislation and HMRC guidance every day! The real satisfaction comes from identifying efficiencies for our clients where we can see a real impact on our clients cash flows, time savings and their employee engagement. Our team has a variety of backgrounds, which is beneficial given the technical nature of our job, this allows for interesting discussions on upcoming changes and current processes, we also learn something new from one another regularly.

PAYROLL (ABERDEEN, EDINBURGH, GLASGOW AND LONDON)


What does my team do?

Our payroll team provide payroll services for a variety of clients.  This includes calculating how much employees need to be paid, calculating how much tax and National Insurance needs to be deducted from their pay and reporting the details to HMRC.  Payroll is a fast-paced environment, with no two days the same which makes working in payroll a motivating and stimulating career choice.

Why I love my job?

AAB has such a variety of services which really drew me in as I realised that no matter where I may start within the company, there will always be the chance for me to engage with something new.  Being in a workplace like AAB has been a great place to begin my career as I felt I have always been supported, with the team really making sure I was understanding everything that was being introduced to me, regardless of how busy they may have been with their own work.

PRIVATE CLIENT TAX (ABERDEEN AND EDINBURGH)


What does my team do?

My team provides bespoke tax advice for individuals in all areas of personal tax. We specialise in several areas from international tax and globally mobile individuals to high-net worth individuals and IHT. We work on a large portfolio of clients across all our locations and assist them in terms of tax compliance, advisory and disclosure needs as well as end of year tax planning.

Why I love my job?

In Private Client, not two days are the same. I get to work in a collaborative team where client service is our number one priority, and I am pushed to develop my technical and soft skills daily. I have the freedom to form my own client relationships and lean on other members of the team for support when I need it. Everyone in my team is approachable and friendly which makes socialising with colleagues really fun as well.
