“A MOMENTOUS THANK YOU for supporting Barnardo’s Aberdeen Young Carers Service and your funding has ensured that we can offer our young carers respite from their caring responsibilities, increase their opportunities of activities and positive experiences in life that some of them do not usually have access to. We have used part of your funding for a day out for our young carers to Codona’s. We had great fun bowling, running around for cover in Laser Tag, bumping on the dodgems, many laughs at Crazy golf and lunch at Pizza Hut.

With your generous contribution we have been able to create long lasting happy memories. We hope to use the rest of the funding during the Festive period with another fun filled activity for our young carers that us workers wholly respect and should be given the recognition and support they deserve.

Aberdeen City’s new Young Carer’s service is being delivered by Barnardo’s and is a joint initiative with Aberdeen City council that commenced in April 2019. Young Carer’s are likely to be one of the biggest single groups of children in need and estimates suggest that in a city the size of Aberdeen, there may be up to 2000 children and young people aged between 5 to 18 years who undertake caring responsibilities for a family member, neighbour or close friend.” Ashley McCrae, Regional Fundraising Manager
