SMEs. Tech Sector.

Brian McMurray is our Business Advisory Group Partner and also heads up our Tech Sector Team. He specialises in giving our owner managed SME clients advice on all aspects of running and growing a business.

Based in our Aberdeen office, Brian works extensively with business owners at every stage of their business lifecycle.

Brian can advise you on growing your business, raising funds, commercialisation, business efficiencies, business strategy, succession planning and preparing for exit.

“Clients are often surprised at how I can help them and the advice I can give them in every stage of their business growth and eventual exit. The advice we give can often be life changing for a client. It could be increasing the value of their business, securing their family’s financial future, or allowing them to retire early.

I really enjoy having close relationships with our clients and being able to ask them questions that maybe other people don’t ask. I like seeing the difference that my advice can make to both their business and personal life. The best compliment that a client ever paid me was after I’d advised them on the sale of their business, and the client said that it was the best decision they’d ever made.”

“I head up the Technology Sector team in AAB and it has been such an exciting time supporting this fast-growing sector. I support tech businesses right from start-up to larger corporates.

We support several accelerator programs that provide intensive support for technology businesses with the aim of getting them ready for investment and growth. I love being able to have an impact in the technology sector and being able to improve a business and its outcomes.”

“Because I’ve worked with a huge number of different businesses and I’ve worked in Audit, Corporate Finance, Technology and Advisory, the breadth of experience I can bring to a business owner is where I add most value.

“I’m equally comfortable having strategic or tactical conversations with a business owner. I think my clients value my honesty, my opinion and the genuine approach I have to giving advice.”

“I love the variety of what I do and see myself as a facilitator and introducer for a client. I will always know someone that has the answer, done it before and be able to advise the client.

I base my relationships with both clients and my team on being honest and genuine in everything I do. I think where AAB are strong is in our aspirations for the future, the quality of our people and our ability to ask the right questions and challenge business owners.”

  • Having AAB as our business partners gives me peace of mind as they listen, participate and work with us to ensure our goals are achieved.

    Gillian Irvine, NorDan
