“WE ARE A COLOURFUL, INTERESTING & PASSIONATE TEAM THAT ALWAYS WANTS TO DO OUR BEST FOR OUR CLIENTS.”

As a Senior Manager in our Private Client team, Bev Holroyd looks after a range of clients, helping them with all aspects of personal tax compliance, including CGT. She is particularly skilled at dealing with and finding solutions for more complex issues that her clients may experience.

Aside from her client work, Bev is involved in the operational side of things as part of the Private Client leadership team. She is part of the cross-office integration team who work together to find and implement solutions to ensure we apply best practice across all locations and are able to give the best possible service to clients. Bev works with lawyers, stockbrokers, and independent financial advisors where there are mutual clients, to ensure that there is a joined-up approach for planning and helping them to achieve their full financial potential.

As a very responsive advisor, Bev always replies quickly to client queries – even if she is not able to help straight away, she always ensures that she manages their expectations relating to timelines. Bev is always keen to be as helpful to clients as possible. This means listening well to fully understand their needs and requirements. Bev also likes to get to know clients and their families so she can gain a greater understanding of how we can help. Bev is always proactive in seeking out opportunities for tax planning.

Bev also coaches a number of the graduate trainees and apprentices until they become managers themselves. To support them in exploring their future careers, Bev helps more junior members of the team find their own preferences, particular strengths, and niche roles within the wider team.

A ‘CAN DO’ ATTITUDE

My ideal relationship with clients is professional, yet friendly and approachable, so that clients feel they can call or meet with me to discuss any queries or ideas they may have. It’s really important to build mutual trust too, as we are dealing with very personal matters sometimes which can be tricky, especially around sensitive tax planning issues.

I have a ‘can do’ attitude which might mean I don’t know all of the answers all of the time, but I will do my best to find them and guide my clients in the direction of the best help.”

SERVICE THAT CLIENTS ARE DELIGHTED WITH

“For me, the most satisfying aspect of working with clients is when the team has delivered great service that clients are delighted with. It’s a great feeling when clients are appreciative of what work has gone into finalising a successful project.

In terms of working with colleagues, I really enjoy working as part of a team, sharing knowledge, working hard together to achieve deadlines – and, of course, having some fun along the way.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF A HUMAN TOUCH

“In this ever-evolving world of technology, I think it’s more important than ever to have human contact – be that in face-to-face meetings or on the phone. Technology is brilliant for systems and operations, but human contact is the most important asset in the world.”

GUIDING CLIENTS SMOOTHLY THROUGH PROCESSES

“We have internal challenges for making sure our systems are all geared up for any legislative changes, but we also face challenges helping and guiding clients smoothly through the various processes, as people are individuals and respond very differently to change. Our job is to make sure they are fully helped and supported throughout the process.”

A WIDER OFFERING & A BROADER SET OF SKILLS

“Having been at Sagars – a mid-sized independent firm for most of my working life, I had no idea what to expect when we joined AAB. However, I believe that to remain a leading firm in this fast-paced, everchanging financial climate, it’s crucial to have a wide offering as well as niche expertise from which to draw. I feel very lucky to have been part of this journey from the outset, and am enjoying meeting lots of fantastic new colleagues along the way. Everyone has different expertise and skill sets, which we are able to utilise to make our business the strong marketplace contender that it is.”

A POSITIVE SOUNDING BOARD

“I think the greatest strengths I bring to Sagars are my sense of positivity, cheerfulness, and fun! Whatever is thrown at me I will always do my best to help and sort out any problems. I am a sounding board for the younger team members; I always listen and try to always be supportive to all my colleagues.”

WHAT SETS US APART

“I think there is a pervasive view that people in the accountancy profession are quite grey and boring, but that is definitely not true of our team – we are a very colourful, interesting, and passionate group of people wanting to do our best for our clients and for Sagars generally. I think that’s a significant part of what sets us apart from other practices.”
