"HELPING PEOPLE & BUSINESSES SUCCEED ACROSS BORDERS”
Damien Crick is a Global Mobility Tax Director based in London with more than 20 years of experience advising organisations on global mobility, employment tax, expatriate tax, payroll, social security and international workforce compliance. He works with businesses ranging from multinational corporations to growing and mid-sized organisations, helping them navigate the increasingly complex challenges that arise when employees work across borders.
Combining deep technical expertise with practical commercial insight, Damien helps clients manage tax and regulatory obligations while designing mobility programmes that are efficient, compliant and aligned with wider business objectives. Known for his approachable and collaborative style, he builds trusted relationships by providing clear, pragmatic advice that enables organisations to make informed decisions with confidence.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS THAT LAST
“For me, every successful client relationship starts with building trust. I take time to understand your people, your goals and the way your business works before making and recommendations or providing advice.
Global mobility and employment tax can often feel overwhelming. My role is to simplify that complexity by providing advice that is clear, practical and commercially focused. I want clients to feel confident that they have someone they can rely on – someone who understands both the legislation and the realities of running a business. The best outcomes come from building trusted relationships where conversations are open, proactive and focused on finding the right solution together.”
MAKING THE COMPLEX SIMPLE
“With international working increasingly common, organisations are facing more tax, payroll and compliance obligations than ever before. My role is to help businesses understand what those obligations mean in practice and develop solutions that work for both the organisation and its employees.
Whether it’s advising on expatriate tax, reviewing global payroll and social security obligations, or helping develop international mobility policies, I focus on delivering practical guidance rather than simply explaining legislation. I believe clients gain the greatest value when technical advice is translated into actions that are straightforward to implement and aligned with their wider commercial objectives.”
STAYING ONE STEP AHEAD
“Cross-border working brings opportunities, but it also introduces significant complexity. Different tax systems, changing legislation, social security rules and payroll requirements can create risks that businesses don’t always see until they become costly.
I enjoy helping organisations identify those risks and challenges early and putting practical processes in place to manage them. Throughout my career I’ve worked with organisations across a wide range of industries, helping them develop effective mobility policies, strengthen compliance processes and create frameworks that support business growth while protecting both the organisation and its employees.”
REAL-WORLD ADVICE
“One of the things I enjoy most about my role is that every client and often, situation is different. One day I may be helping a business navigate a cross-border tax issue, while the next I could be supporting the design of an entirely new global mobility framework.
Whatever the challenge, my objective remains the same – to make complex matters easier to understand and manage. By combining technical expertise with commercial awareness, I help clients make informed decisions that not only keep them compliant today but also support their future ambitions.”
WHY AAB?
“What excites me about AAB is the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team that brings together expertise from across tax, payroll, HR, accounting and advisory services. Clients increasingly need joined-up advice rather than isolated answers, and that’s exactly what AAB provides.
Being able to collaborate with colleagues across different specialisms means we can look beyond an individual tax issue and help clients solve broader business challenges. It’s a genuinely collaborative approach that delivers practical value and long-term support.”
LOOKING AHEAD
“Global mobility continues to evolve, and I’m particularly interested in the opportunities that emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, can bring to our profession. Used well, technology can improve efficiency, enhance data analysis and help identify risks much earlier.
That said, I don’t believe technology replaces trusted advice. The most successful advisory relationships are still built on people, experience and professional judgement. I see technology as something that enhances the service we provide rather than replacing the conversations that really matter.”
HELPING YOUR BUSINESS GROW
“Ultimately, my focus is on helping organisations support their people globally while providing the clarity, confidence and practical guidance needed to succeed in an international environment. Every business faces different challenges, and I enjoy working alongside clients to find solutions that genuinely make a difference.
If I can help simplify, remove uncertainty and allow clients to focus on growing their business with confidence, then I’ve done my job well. Global mobility doesn’t need to be overwhelming – with the right advice and the right partnership, it can become a real enabler of business success.”
