“There’s no magic wand for transformation, but with the right people and approach, real change happens.”
Zoe Lumsden is a Director in our Office of the CFO team, based in Aberdeen. She supports clients to strengthen and transform their finance functions and deliver meaningful, lasting change.
With more than a decade of experience leading large-scale transformation projects, Zoe brings strong project management expertise, a people-focused approach and a deep understanding of change management. She supports organisations to redesign operating models, simplify finance processes, optimise performance and embed new ways of working that deliver long-term value.
Zoe believes transformation starts with understanding the people behind the processes. She takes time to listen, learn and uncover what’s holding an organisation back before shaping the right path forward.
Delivering change that lasts
“Successful transformation is never just about the processes or technology involved. At its heart, it’s about people. My role is to work collaboratively with clients throughout the entire journey, from early discovery to embedding new processes. I ensure people understand what is changing, why it matters and how it will impact them, creating the engagement needed for change to succeed.
Without that involvement, even the best‑designed transformation can fall short. With it, organisations unlock lasting improvements in culture, collaboration and performance.”
Working across a diverse range of organisations
“I support a broad mix of clients, including corporates, not-for-profits, health and social care providers, and public sector bodies. Every organisation is unique with its own culture, challenges and ambitions. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Meaningful transformation requires understanding before action.”
Listening first, leading together
“Strong relationships being with listening. It’s essential to take the time to understand the people behind the processes, their concerns and what success looks like to them. I guide, challenge and make recommendations, but decisions always remain with the client.
Transformation should never feel imposed. When people feel heard and empowered, they contribute more openly, trust grows, and change becomes something the whole organisation can stand behind.”
Creating realistic pathways to success
“Meaningful transformation takes time. Many issues develop over years, and sustainable change requires commitment, investment and realistic timelines. I bring people along the journey, ensuring transformation delivers the benefits it promises.”
