"Making sure every client is considered."
Neil Folan is our Risk & Compliance Director. Based in Aberdeen, his role involves working with the team holding Compliance Oversight & Money Laundering Reporting Officer functions to ensure that the business is meeting regulatory obligations by maintaining and monitoring policies and procedure, systems and controls.
An Ideal relationship
“An ideal relationship with internal staff requires open and honest lines of communication. My relationship with the team involves providing knowledge of regulatory requirements and making sure every client is considered when looking at processes and procedures.”
OPEN AND HONEST CULTURE
“I am not afraid to challenge and provide an opinion. I think it is important for everyone to feel comfortable enough to express their views without fear of repercussion. To me, compliance works best when the culture is open and honest. “
EVER CHANGING AND EVOLVING
“The greatest challenge I face in my role is regulatory changes which requires me to understand the changes and reasons behind them, in addition to how they will impact the business. This is reviewed with senior management and agree any action that is required.
Personally, the most exciting thing is knowing I have can continue to evolve and develop in my role within the business. From a business perspective, the planned growth of the wider firm and the opportunities that this presents for AAB Wealth is exhilarating.”
