“I ENJOY GETTING TO KNOW MY CLIENTS & HELPING THEM NAVIGATE TAX WITH CONFIDENCE.”

Based in our Aberdeen office, Sarah Campbell is a Business Advisory Tax Assistant Manager who works with owner-managed businesses and individuals, helping them navigate the complexities of tax with practical, commercially focused advice. She combines strong technical expertise with a collaborative approach, supporting clients with everything from compliance obligations to tax planning opportunities. She believes tax advice should do more than meet deadlines – it should give clients clarity, confidence and the information they need to make better decisions for themselves and their businesses. By taking the time to understand each client’s priorities and long-term goals, Sarah delivers advice that is tailored, relevant and easy to understand.

LISTENING COMES FIRST

“The first thing I do when working with a new client is listen. Every business and every individual has different priorities, challenges and ambitions, so I never believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Taking the time to understand what matters most allows me to tailor my advice to their circumstances rather than simply providing technical answers. Open communication is equally important, because I want clients to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that they’ll receive advice that’s clear, practical and relevant to their situation.”

TURNING COMPLEXITY INTO CLARITY

“Having spent most of my career specialising in tax, I’ve built a strong technical foundation across both corporate and personal tax. Attention to detail is one of my biggest strengths, helping me ensure work is accurate, compliant and completed to a high standard. But technical knowledge is only part of the picture. I enjoy translating complex tax legislation into straightforward advice that clients can understand and act on. Whether I’m reviewing tax computations, identifying planning opportunities or supporting advisory projects, my aim is always to help clients make informed decisions with confidence.”

KEEPING AHEAD OF CHANGE

“One of the biggest challenges in tax is that it never stands still. Legislation changes regularly, bringing new opportunities as well as new complexities for businesses and individuals. Staying up to date is an essential part of my role, and I enjoy continually developing my knowledge so that clients receive advice that’s current, accurate and practical. I’ve also learned throughout my career that communication is just as valuable as technical expertise. Explaining complicated tax matters in a way that people genuinely understand helps build trust and gives clients greater confidence in the decisions they make.”

CONFIDENT DECISIONS

“One client recently approached us because they were considering several different options for their business but weren’t sure which direction to take. Rather than focusing solely on the tax position, I took the time to understand their wider goals before reviewing the tax implications of each option. By presenting the advantages and considerations in a clear and practical way, we were able to recommend an approach that suited both their commercial objectives and their tax position. Seeing a client move forward with confidence after removing uncertainty is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”

STRONGER TOGETHER

“One of the things I value most about working at AAB is the collaborative culture. Our clients’ needs often extend beyond tax, and having access to specialists across the business means we can provide joined-up advice whenever it’s needed. If a client has a question outside my area of expertise, I know I can work alongside colleagues from other disciplines to provide the right support. That collaborative approach allows us to deliver a seamless service while giving clients confidence that they’re receiving well-rounded advice from one trusted team.”

MORE THAN NUMBERS

“A common misconception is that tax is simply about numbers, calculations and meeting deadlines. In reality, it’s much more than that. Every piece of advice is connected to someone’s business, ambitions or personal circumstances. My role is about helping clients solve problems, identify opportunities and make strategic decisions that support their long-term goals. The technical side is important, but understanding people is what really makes the difference.”

HELPING YOU MOVE FORWARD

“For me, the most rewarding part of my role is knowing that clients leave conversations feeling more confident than when they arrived. Whether that’s reducing uncertainty, identifying tax-saving opportunities or simply providing reassurance, I want clients to know they have someone in their corner who understands both the technical detail and the bigger picture. By building lasting relationships and providing advice that’s clear, practical and tailored to each client, I hope to make tax feel less daunting and help businesses and individuals focus on what matters most to them.”

LOOKING AHEAD

“Technology is changing professional services at a rapid pace, and I’m particularly interested in how AI can support the work we do. Used well, it has the potential to improve efficiency, automate routine tasks and create more time for advisers to focus on delivering real value to clients. While technology will continue to transform the profession, I don’t believe it will ever replace the importance of personal relationships. Face-to-face conversations, understanding individual circumstances and building trust will always remain central to delivering an excellent client experience.”
