“PEOPLE, RELATIONSHIPS & VISION ARE WHAT DRIVE ACCOMPLISHMENT.”
Based in Leeds, Daniel Orange works with businesses that want more than a tax adviser – they want someone who understands where they are today, where they want to go and how tax can support that journey. As a Business Advisory Tax Senior Manager, he works with a range of clients, helping them navigate an increasingly complex tax landscape while identifying opportunities to strengthen and grow. Whether supporting corporation tax compliance, advising on future planning or helping clients overcome new challenges, Daniel believes the best outcomes come from combining technical expertise with genuine relationships. By taking time to understand the people behind every business, he delivers practical, proactive advice that gives clients confidence to make informed decisions.
UNDERSTANDING PEOPLE, NOT JUST NUMBERS
“I believe the strongest client relationships start long before we discuss tax. Every business is different because every business is built by different people, each with their own ambitions, pressures and long-term goals. Taking the time to understand what motivates you allows me to provide advice that’s genuinely tailored to your circumstances rather than relying on standard solutions.
For me, communication is just as important as technical knowledge. Regular conversations, honest discussions and being available when clients need support help create relationships that last for years rather than individual engagements. My aim is to become someone clients can rely on whenever new opportunities or challenges arise.”
FINDING PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS
“One of the most rewarding parts of my role is helping businesses solve problems before they become bigger issues. Tax is constantly evolving, and businesses face new challenges every day. I enjoy understanding those challenges, analysing the options available and finding practical solutions that support both immediate needs and long-term ambitions.
Whether it’s ensuring deadlines are met comfortably, planning for future tax changes or identifying opportunities to improve processes, I focus on delivering advice that is clear, commercially focused and easy to implement. My role isn’t simply about helping clients stay compliant – it’s about helping them make confident decisions.”
LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE
“I began my career in tax straight from school, joining the profession at 18 with very little understanding of the business world. What quickly became clear was that tax combined everything I enjoyed – problem solving, analytical thinking and working closely with people.
Since then, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside experienced colleagues and a diverse range of clients, each bringing different challenges and opportunities. Those experiences have shaped how I approach every engagement today. I know that technical knowledge matters, but knowing how to apply it in a way that works for each individual client is what really creates value.”
LEARNING THROUGH EVERY CHALLENGE
“Like many people progressing through their careers, I’ve experienced moments of imposter syndrome. Despite positive feedback and successful outcomes, I sometimes questioned my own abilities. Learning to recognise that feeling and understanding that many professionals experience it has been an important part of my own development.
Today, I often reflect on how much I’ve learned over the years rather than focusing on what I don’t know. Looking back at where I was five or ten years ago gives me perspective and confidence. That mindset helps me approach new challenges with resilience and ensures I remain calm, positive and focused on finding the right outcomes for my clients.”
CONNECTING EXPERTISE
“One of the biggest advantages of working at AAB is the breadth of expertise available across the business. Clients often come to us with one specific requirement, but through getting to know their business we frequently identify opportunities where other specialists can add value.
I recently worked with a long-established family business on a corporation tax compliance assignment. During regular visits, it became clear that their manual systems were beginning to hold the business back as it continued to grow. By introducing colleagues with software integration expertise, we helped modernise processes before they became a much bigger challenge. What started as a compliance engagement became a broader advisory relationship that delivered lasting benefits for the client.”
THE VALUE OF COLLABORATION
“My greatest strengths are relationship building, teamwork and leadership. I believe the best client outcomes come from combining different perspectives and drawing on the experience of the wider team. That’s something AAB does exceptionally well.
Our culture is approachable, collaborative and forward-thinking. Clients benefit from receiving a personal, local service while also having access to specialists across the wider business whenever additional expertise is needed. That balance allows us to deliver advice that’s both practical and comprehensive.”
INNOVATION WITH PURPOSE
“Tax legislation never stands still, and neither should advisers. Staying ahead of legislative change is a fundamental part of my role, ensuring clients are not only compliant today but prepared for what’s coming next.
I’m particularly interested in how artificial intelligence is transforming our profession. Used effectively, AI has enormous potential to improve efficiency, enhance client service and allow advisers to spend even more time delivering strategic, value-added advice. I want to embrace these developments while ensuring the personal relationships clients value remain at the centre of everything I do.”
BREAKING THE STEREOTYPE
“One misconception I’d love to change is that tax is simply about forms, deadlines and compliance. While those things are essential, they are only one part of the picture.
For me, tax is about helping businesses make better decisions, overcome obstacles and achieve their ambitions. It’s fast-moving, people-focused and constantly changing. Every client is different, every challenge is unique and every solution has the potential to make a genuine difference to someone’s business.”
FOCUSED ON YOUR FUTURE
“The greatest compliment I’ve ever received from a client was, “You understand the business. You just seem to get it.” That perfectly captures what I strive to achieve with every client relationship.
My goal is to continue to be a trusted adviser who understands not only your tax affairs but also your business, your ambitions and the people behind them. By combining technical expertise, proactive advice and strong relationships, I want to help businesses face challenges with confidence, seize opportunities as they arise and continue building long-term success.”
