“At SSPCA we truly appreciate the help of volunteers as there are often lots of tasks and maintenance work required and when this is being looked after by volunteers, it frees up our staff to progress with the health checking, assessing and rehab work with animals in our care. Our AABIE volunteers were fantastic and the time and assistance they gave probably saved our staff about a week’s worth of work, which is hugely important. Over the 18 days, the 37 volunteers undertook numerous tasks, one of which was dog walking which ensures the dogs get plenty of extra walking and play time, again giving our staff precious time back to concentrate on treatments and assessment work.

The AABIE volunteers really got stuck into anything and everything we needed help with, some even assisted with clearing the ragwort in the fields! A job that no one likes but still needs doing on a weekly basis. By the end of the volunteer period, we had had so many helpful and willing hands that we have even made a wee dent on the winter maintenance programme with little bits of painting and field repairs, all the better undertaking these tasks on some of the sunny days we had this summer.

A great big thank you from all the staff to AABIE, the assistance was really appreciated by all of us!” Graeme Innes, Centre Manager, Aberdeenshire ARRC, Scottish SPCA
