“ACHIEVING THE BEST RESULTS FOR OUR CLIENTS.”

Sharon Kinney is a Corporate Tax Senior Manager. Based in our Stirling office she provides both corporate tax compliance and advisory services. Sharon supports a wide range of clients including large and small corporates and international groups. She specialises in R&D and Patent Box claims alongside capital allowances and transactional tax.

For Sharon, every business and client is different and to best support her clients needs she provides them with bespoke solutions that are designed specifically for them to achieve their goals.

Driven to deliver the best service

“Having regular contact and mutual trust are the most important things for me when it comes to building client relationships. I want my clients to know they can come to me any time if they need assistance or just want to keep me up to date with business plans. Mutual respect is equally important to have in client relationships and I work hard to develop this with my clients.

It is my aim to deliver an excellent and timeous service for my clients. Clients come to us, the experts in our field, to be provided guidance and support throughout the tax process. It is my priority to continually keep on top of any changes to the tax legislation that may impact them and ensure I give my clients the best service and assistance. Being able to provide that and have the client appreciate the work that goes in to achieving the best results for them is very satisfying.”

Collaboration is the key to success

“I love having the opportunity to train junior colleagues and help them along their career development journey. We’ve all been in that spot before so I understand how much of a difference it can make to simply have someone there to support and always willing to answer questions. I believe my approachability and willingness to help are my greatest strengths. For me, spreading knowledge across the team is very rewarding. We all work together as a team to help one another. I firmly believe a collaborative approach is the key to keeping engagement high and building a sense of mutual trust and respect within the workplace.”

Embracing tech

“As a tech-enabled business, we now can meet clients virtually and I’m having more face-to-face meetings than ever. In fact, virtual meetings have now replaced telephone calls, making them feel more personal. Aside from virtual meetings, being able to forward documents and have them signed instantaneously has assisted immensely with meeting deadlines. Although I enjoy having more options and flexibility, I absolutely do feel there is still a place for in-person meetings. These meetings often allow me to get to know my clients better and build trust, which I believe are ultimately the most important parts of building lasting client relationships.”

The greatest challenge in tax

“Tax legislation is technically complex and everchanging. Working in tax means every day is a learning day. Given that the tax landscape is evolving at such a fast pace, we must manage expectations and continuously stay on top of the latest changes to tax legislation. Each and every client is important to me, so I work hard in giving each client the highest level of service possible.”

Excited for what the future brings

“I’m excited to say that at AAB we now have more experts and specialists than ever before. Personally, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the growing business of AAB continues to disrupt the market and expand geographically.”
