“SUPPORT & ADVICE BEYOND AUDIT.”

Natalie Boyle is Audit Director heading up our Audit team. She specialises in providing audit and accounting services across a complete spectrum of owner managed businesses, family businesses, small-medium corporate organisations, UK and International groups, community benefit organisations and the charity and not for profit sectors.

Based in our Glasgow office, Natalie has extensive experience in reviewing financial statements, providing audit and assurance advice, audit reporting and providing support and advice to our clients post audit.

MAKING AUDIT ENJOYABLE

“I think audit is often seen as a disruptive and painful process, but that isn’t the case. We encourage all our clients to work with us as part of their team, we’re not there to judge or criticise, we’re there to truly help our clients identify risks and challenges in their business and help them to improve things.

Because we look in depth at the day-to-day systems and processes of a business, we can really add value to clients by offering advice on making their processes more efficient and smoother whilst having robust controls in place. I believe the clients we work with see the audit as an enjoyable and useful experience.”

DEVELOPING AUDIT TALENT

“I’m Counselling Member for ICAS and ICAEW students in the Glasgow Office, which I just love as part of my role. I provide support and guidance for students achievement logs from the start of their training through to qualification. I give them guidance around their objectives. I find it especially satisfying to help trainees. I started as a trainee in audit straight from university and I had fantastic coaches and mentors, so being able to pass on the training and support that I had, to people coming in through the same route and seeing them develop and progress is really rewarding.

I really enjoy coaching and mentoring people. Being there for my team to give them help and advice is important to me but also making their day to day lives more enjoyable and fun!”

A WIDE VARIETY OF CHALLENGES

“What I find really interesting about my role is the wide variety of clients I work with and their individual challenges. For example, some corporate clients may have had significant events happening, maybe an acquisition or expansion. With owner managed businesses there may be more questions around tax and compliance and often with family businesses there are challenges around succession.

I like the fact that we don’t only meet the clients once a year for the audit, our relationship, support and advice is ongoing throughout the whole year.”

A CAREER THAT I LOVE

“I really wholeheartedly love my career. Right from secondary school, through university and now in my working life, I realise that this is my passion and my niche. I remember being in university and having that lightbulb moment, realising this was definitely the career for me.

I continue to want to develop my own skills and progress and I feel that in AAB, I have every opportunity to do that. The future in AAB and in audit excites me. I look forward to the continued growth and the opportunities that brings to not only myself but my team as well.”
