“SUPPORTING CLIENTS ON THEIR JOURNEYS.”

Based in our Stirling office, Hazel Burt is a Private Client Tax Partner. Hazel has specialised in tax for more than 20 years advising on both personal tax compliance and consultancy, managing a varied client base of businesses and private clients.

Hazel has previously served as the Scottish President of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants for two years and is currently a member of the Scottish committee.

Having been brought up in a family business Hazel has a deep understanding of the issues surrounding owner-managed firms. She draws on this background when advising on commercial and tax matters and provides relevant and bespoke advice to meet the client’s specific requirements.

Mutual respect & trust

“For me, an ideal client relationship is one where we work in close partnership with the client to ensure the best outcome is achieved for them and their families. As we are looking after our client’s personal affairs, it is important to build mutual respect and trust, and to really take the time to get to know them on a personal level. It is vital that our clients’ tax, commercial and personal affairs are arranged to meet their needs and requirements so I always aim to be available to discuss with them any concerns or answer any questions they may have.

I am passionate about providing practical bespoke tax advice with the expertise I have built up over more than 30 years in the profession. When working with clients, I am proactive in my approach, and I am not afraid to play devil’s advocate to ensure any risks are identified and resolved.”

Teamwork makes the dream work

“I believe in the power of a collaborative approach to work. I love working with people to achieve their desired outcomes. I’m a people person and enjoy building strong relationships with both clients and colleagues alike and find great satisfaction in supporting them on their journeys.

I take pride in our ethos of positivity, enthusiasm, and fun in the workplace. As a team, we work hard to overcome challenges for clients and do so by having some fun along the way too. I believe it is important to create a positive working environment where members of staff feel valued and motivated. I also find it extremely rewarding to see junior members of staff develop and fulfil their potential.”

My strengths

“I’d say the greatest strengths I bring to the table are my strong people skills and pragmatic approach. These skills help me get to the bottom of issues and resolve them with practical and effective solutions best suited to our client’s circumstances. In addition, I also have a wide knowledge of different areas of business and tax gained over a long period advising clients and their families.”

Sense of achievement

“Seeing my clients appreciate the advice I’ve given is the greatest compliment they can pay me, especially when they take the time out to let me know how valuable my support has been in arranging their affairs. I am always delighted to receive positive feedback from my clients. Knowing the advice and service I’ve provided have truly made a difference gives me a great sense of achievement and satisfaction.”

A growth journey

“I am excited to join new colleagues at AAB and have access to a wider range of sector specialists. AAB is constantly growing and evolving, and I am looking forward to seeing what the next step will be on this journey.”
