“MINE IS a MULTIFACETED ROLE.”

Gordon Steele is Partner and Head of Deals in our Corporate Finance team. He specialises in advising clients through corporate transactions such as business acquisition and disposals.

Based in our Aberdeen office, Gordon works extensively with clients who are looking to raise finance, buy a business or to sell a business. Gordon is also an expert valuer, supporting client and legal firms with litigation support, dispute resolution and acts as an expert witness.

Gordon can advise you on a wide range of issues, from due diligence, business valuation, funding, buyouts (MBO/MBI’s) and succession planning. Gordon also holds a portfolio of clients that with the assistance of colleagues he advises on a wide range of subjects including accounting, taxation, and strategic business advice.

BEFORE, DURING & AFTER THE TRANSACTION

“I can add the most value to a client if they engage me well in advance of a major transaction such as a business sale or acquisition. This allows me to really use my experience to help to guide the client and give them the best advice possible.

Often, I’m talking to clients for two years or more before they undertake a transaction, which allows me to give them wider strategic advice and ensure we get the best outcome for them. Successful clients and successful transactions are what drives our success, so the sooner we’re involved the more we can help clients to get the best result possible.

Post transaction advisory work with clients is also particularly valuable, whether this is assisting with integrating an acquisition, or wealth and tax planning following the sale of a business.”

A REAL BUZZ FROM CLIENTS

“I get a real buzz from client interaction, building strong relationships with people and seeing happy clients. We’ve got great clients and I just love it when I can add value. I’m there on my client’s side and to fight their corner in everything I do. Sometimes that means being direct in difficult circumstances, not sugar coating the truth but always having their best interests at the forefront of everything we do for them.

The work I do and advice I can give can be life changing for a client. Often, we’re creating millionaires along the way and being able to make that sort of impact is really rewarding for me.”

TALENTED YOUNG PEOPLE

“I’ve built my career in AAB and been fortunate in having a great grounding in the basics, but also the exposure to a broad spectrum of experience in terms of accounts, tax, audit, and corporate finance. Then I had the opportunity to specialise, but I think it’s that broad experience that now enables me to give rounded and clear commercial advice to clients.

In my leadership role, I can now offer those opportunities to others. We have some really talented, young people in the business who we train specifically in corporate finance. It’s particularly rewarding for me to see people take on new challenges, develop and deliver to our clients.”

AMBITIOUS & HIGH PERFORMING

“AAB are an ambitious, high performing firm that have built a strong reputation in the market. We are always on our A-game both in terms of delivering a highly responsive service to clients but also in recruiting and retaining the best people.

The future is exciting at AAB as growth continues to give us more opportunities and access to an even wider range of services, clients, and talent which I think is fantastic.”
