“NO TWO DAYS ARE THE SAME IN VFF; I AM CONTINUALLY GROWING & EXPANDING MY KNOWLEDGE.”

As an assistant manager in our Virtual Finance Function (VFF) team, Darren Cunningham’s role consists of helping businesses that are experiencing a problem such as loss of staff or lack of knowledge within their team. Darren is outsourced to clients to help resolve these issues, acting in a manager or company accountant role for his clients.

Helping clients operating in a variety of different sectors, Darren solves his clients’ problems by, for example, bringing financial information up to date or filling in a gap within their team to ensure the smooth flow of business.

Darren assists clients ranging from those that are struggling and need some additional support, to those who are successful but are looking to outsource and delegate tasks in order to focus on other aspects of running of the business.

REGULAR, OPEN COMMUNICATION

“For me, the ideal relationship with a client would be one that is based on regular, open communication. It’s so important for clients to feel able to happily talk about a problem, as it makes it far easier to solve.”

TRUST & TRANSPARENCY

“Clients can feel confident in trusting me to complete any given task at hand, solving whatever issues they might have whilst ensuring open communication along the way to allow for complete transparency.”

THE BENEFITS OF VARIETY

“There is such a wide variety of people and businesses with whom I am able to be involved in my area of work, which is probably the most satisfying aspect of my job. It ensures that no two days are the same, and means I am continually growing and expanding my knowledge and my network.”

CALM & CONFIDENT

“One of my strengths is that I remain calm and composed within my work, whilst being able to employ assertiveness wherever necessary. My confidence and outgoing nature are also huge assets to me, allowing me to complete any tasks thrown at me with minimal stress. The thing that also helps me to avoid feeling stressed when it comes to work is feeling fully confident that even if I’m uncertain of the answer to a particular question, there will always be someone on the team whose area of expertise covers this area.”

BEING ADAPTABLE WITH TECHNOLOGY

“My role involves me being both virtual and in person which, in turn, means that I have to be able to regularly adapt between my clients’ technology and my own. AAB Group is very tech-enabled with all software I need to perform my tasks, and I myself am very comfortable using technology and picking up how to use new pieces of software.”

BALANCING WORKLOADS

“I think the greatest challenge in my specialist area is balancing the workload of multiple clients simultaneously. I handle this by ensuring I always remain as organised as possible, and up to date with all meetings, notes, and paperwork.”

CONTINUOUS LEARNING

“I’m excited to continue to grow my network and knowledge to a level where I am a master of everything business! There is so much to learn, but I’m a quick study and really enjoy the challenge of continuous learning.”

ENSURING A SMOOTH WORKFLOW

“One of the AAB Group values is that ‘collaboration is our superpower’ – this value applies massively within our VFF team, as we count on each other every day. The breadth and depth of everyone’s experience ensures we have knowledge and expertise in all areas needed to perform the task at hand. Everyone is always so willing to help each other out whenever possible, which allows for a really smooth workflow.”
