“Building relationships is key.”

Claire Miller is a Business Advisory Group Manager within our Stirling office. Claire’s role involves managing a portfolio of clients, providing them with statutory financial statements, management accounts, vat returns as well as support and training on cloud accounting systems. She regularly meets with her clients to discuss their accounts and provide insights and advice to assist them in moving their businesses forward.

Claire is part of a team that evaluates and allocates assignments to staff based on client needs and timescales to ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. She also assists with the training and supervision of our assistants.

A two-way relationship

“An ideal relationship is one where there is open communication. I strive to be available for my clients and I want my clients to feel comfortable picking up the phone when they have a question or they want advice at any point throughout the year.

I always aim to be proactive and timely in delivering my service to my clients and provide them with bespoke advice and assistance to suit their needs. Also, I ensure we explain our points to them in a clear and concise manner without jargon.”

An all-encompassing approach

“I believe that collaboration is one of our strongest strengths. Clients often comment on how they really like the fact that if they ask for advice on particular areas, there will always be specialists in the group that can assist. With AAB providing a fully comprehensive service, it also means that I, as an accountant, can continue to grow my knowledge in other areas with the assistance from my colleagues in various departments from payroll, corporation tax, private client tax, wealth to restructuring and recovery.

Clients find this cross-departmental collaboration particularly effective. With this approach, clients essentially have everything under one roof (so to speak) and we can all assist one another to make it work for the client, without them having to reach out to several people at various places.”

My people skills

“My main strength is my ability to build strong client relationships. I have successfully managed to build up good, trusting relationships with my clients so that when they need to call for advice or to discuss any matters they will contact me direct, and have the confidence that I will be able to assist.

The same can be said about internal relationships. I’m an excellent team player and will help and assist colleagues whenever I can.”

Positive feedback

“Over the years, I‘ve received very positive feedback from my clients. One of my clients who usually got quite stressed out with all the finance side of things stated that our accounts meeting were like therapy sessions for him. It felt very rewarding to see how we were able to take the pressure off the client and really make a difference.

Another client was really pleased after leaving a smaller firm and then coming to us. I went out to sort out their book-keeping system as it had gotten out of hand and the smaller firm did not have the capacity or knowledge to update this. The client was really pleased as he could now actually see the results of the company and have regular results to work on and improve to make the company grow. They managed to grow the business successfully as we continued to assist with the finance function. The client could not thank me enough for my work and also noted to the partner how grateful he was, which was lovely to hear.”
