Sinead Patterson is an Audit Assistant Manager based at our Newry office. Sinead’s role is varied and involves supporting our Business Advisory team by assisting with statutory accounts preparation. Working within a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, construction, mining, recycling, and hospitality, she also leads a range of audit and assurance services for a diverse portfolio of clients and ensures that the audit process is efficient and tailored to meet clients’ needs.
“I believe that the ideal client relationship should strike a balance between a professional and relaxed approach. It’s clear we’ve achieved that balance when we can be open and relaxed, share a laugh and really get to know our clients on a personal level. At AAB we are committed to developing and nurturing relationships where our clients see us as their trusted advisor, and a vital part of this is reaching the point where there’s mutual respect and trust on both sides.
It’s a fundamental part of my role that I’m available to offer my clients advice and support. If they have a question that is outside my area of expertise, I will get an answer from the appropriate team. We are passionate about being able to help our clients with any query, which we do by utilising the wide knowledge pool we have across the firm. As AAB offers services from audit and tax to hotel accounting and ESG and everything in between, there will always be someone that has the answer.”
“The best measure of success for me is when we deliver everything that we initially set out to achieve and add extra value along the way. Going above and beyond for our clients is deeply ingrained in all we do at AAB, and when we surpass their expectations, we know we’ve done our job well.
I have a friendly & personable attitude towards our clients, which helps to build and maintain a strong relationship. I take the time to keep clients up to date with technical updates such as audit and accountancy news, legislative changes and best practice.
Going above and beyond for our team members is also built into our ethos at AAB. As part of my role, I really enjoy supporting junior members of the team to progress and develop within their careers. I do this by providing support and feedback where necessary to help make their career goals achievable, and being on hand to answer any questions they might have.”
“We deliver services to a diverse range of clients, so each audit is different to the last. I’ve found that the best way to carry out an audit really depends on the individual needs and preferences of our clients. Providing a bespoke service to our clients not only ensures we’re delivering an accessible service according to their needs, but it means we are being as efficient as possible. Being onsite has its advantages, as you really get a feel for what our clients’ lives are like day-to-day, and how their systems and processes work.
Audits generally require a lot of interaction which can cause disruption to the client’s work schedule. Having an open line of communication is important to cooperate and deliver an outstanding service for our clients, in a way that suits them.
One of my greatest strengths is my attention to detail, which is vital when working within audit, and communicating with clients. I always strive to provide reliable and trustworthy advice, and being there when my clients need me to be.”
“One of the great things about working at AAB is the number of opportunities, not just for me but across the whole firm. We have grown substantially, and this has attracted new clients across a variety of industries and locations. AAB continues to push the team to strive for success, while also offering us support. It’s exciting to see the company continue to grow, and open new opportunities to the team.
Every day we bring to life our value that nothing is more important that our people. AAB promote an inclusive work culture that puts our team first and fully supports our goals and career progression. Having that support and encouragement motivates me to develop and grow within my role.”
“There is a common misconception that we’re trying to catch clients out by trying to find mistakes and errors, which is not what audit is all about. Because of this, new clients can sometimes feel anxious about the audit process.
We enjoy helping clients ensure they are compliant, and we take the time to explain the process if they’re not sure what to expect. Part of what we do also involves offering advice to help improve efficiencies and practices to ensure companies are running at their optimum levels.”
