“I’M FOCUSED ON MAKING TAX WORK FOR MY CLIENTS”

Sarah Teshome is a Corporate Tax Partner based in our Leeds office. Focused on growing AAB’s corporation tax practice and strengthening our transfer pricing capabilities, Sarah draws on extensive experience as a Transfer Pricing Partner at a Big Four firm.

Sarah brings technical expertise and strategic insight to guide our clients through complex international tax challenges. Supporting businesses expanding globally, Sarah’s aim is to ensure client tax and transfer pricing frameworks are robust, efficient, and future-ready.

Scalable tax strategies

“I love helping clients who are growing internationally, whether they’re entering new markets, dealing with new tax regimes or scaling operations. That’s where a carefully considered transfer pricing strategy becomes invaluable for success.

I always aim to set and maintain tax policies that are not only efficient and commercially aligned but also compliant with the varying requirements across all jurisdictions. When things go wrong, I help resolve disputes. When structures aren’t working, I step in to optimise. It’s about making tax work for my clients and their business, not the other way around.”

Partnerships built on trust

“To me, building relationships with my clients is so important. I’ve always believed that clients should feel like partners, and I aim to be the same for them. That trust and connection help us handle those tough conversations more easily and make the positive outcomes even more rewarding for everyone involved.

My clients expect and trust my insight and advice, and while this is important, I also make sure my clients know that they have someone who is in their corner, approachable, pragmatic, and truly invested in their success just as much as they are.”

We’re all on the same team

Whether I’m working with clients or colleagues to achieve a specific goal or outcome, I see us all as collaborators working towards this common objective at the end of the day.

Whether I’m working across departments, cities or service lines, I see every interaction as a valuable part of the bigger picture. I’ve found that the most satisfying moments often come not just at the end of a big project, but in the way we got there: the thinking, collaboration and shared effort that bring a challenge to a resolution for clients.”

Collaboration is key to success

“If I had to choose one value that defines my approach, it’s collaboration. It’s how we get the best from each other and how we grow. Whether it’s bringing a new service to life, solving a tough client issue, or simply getting a second opinion, working together brings out more creativity, better solutions, and a shared sense of success. That’s the AAB way, and it’s definitely mine too.

Collaboration isn’t just a buzzword AAB use. The team are generous with their time, ideas and support. That kind of environment is incredibly powerful in a space like tax, where you often need multiple viewpoints and skillsets to solve complex problems. Collaboration doesn’t just get you to an answer, it gets you to the best possible solution for clients.”

A blend of technology & human connection

“What is best for my clients, works best for me. That said, I do prefer to really get to know my clients, and there’s no substitute for meeting face to face, especially at the beginning of a relationship. It builds trust quickly and lays a strong foundation. But once that’s in place, virtual working becomes a brilliant tool. It’s efficient, flexible and allows us to maintain momentum no matter where we are.”

Staying updated in the ever-changing tax landscape

“One of the greatest challenges in transfer pricing and international tax is the sheer pace of change. New rules are emerging all the time, and often geopolitical events like trade disputes or policy shifts can change the goalposts overnight.

My job is to help my clients stay not just compliant, but also confident in their direction. I keep on top of these developments, so they don’t have to, and I translate the complexity into clear, actionable advice they can rely on.”

Looking ahead

“What excites me most about my future at AAB is the sense of opportunity. AAB is on a growth journey, and it’s energising to be part of a business that’s thinking big, while always keeping clients front of mind.

For me personally, I am able to broaden my remit and shape something new that will benefit our clients.”
