Colleagues across the Group.
Data extraction, analysis, and presentation. Data consistencies in the practice management systems. Data reports.
Finance and business unit heads.
Richard Stewart is a Manager in our Systems & Software team. He is responsible for the extraction and manipulation of data from the various different entities that make up AAB Group. He works with the rest of the Systems & Software team to present the information in the form of PowerBI dashboards, and ensures that the data is able to be understood and interpreted by the various finance and business unit heads and teams. He also reports key financial information from a variety of systems used across the Group.
Richard looks after the data consistencies in the practice management systems to ensure the data is kept clean, so reports are accurate and consistent. His specialisms are SQL, PowerBI and the Microsoft suite of applications.
“The ability to listen and communicate, understand issues, and meet deadlines to get them resolved is absolutely central to my role, and these are key elements to my idea of an ideal relationship with colleagues. When we’re able to communicate with each other properly, it’s so much easier to understand issues on a deeper level, and better equips us in providing the best and most appropriate solutions for any problems or areas for improvement, which is always what I aim to do.”
“I’m expected to understand the data that I work with and manipulate it into reports that teams can use to help them manage their portfolios and financial data. It’s also expected of me that I’m able to work to tight deadlines and come up with answers to seemingly impossible questions!”
“It’s very satisfying being able to provide the team with the data they require to manage their client portfolios and be as efficient as possible. Being able to offer solutions and answers to colleagues to problems they’ve been having is particularly satisfying, especially if it’s been a longstanding issue. Presenting teams with improved processes and software that help them do their job more efficiently is also quite rewarding, as I know I’ve made their work slightly easier!”
“The greatest challenge that I face in my job is understanding the data from all the entities and getting it into a format people can understand. Being able to ‘translate’ things and present them in a way that’s accessible for people with different specialisms is key to my role. It’s definitely tough sometimes as the data can be so complex, but it’s a process that I’m improving all the time.”
“What I’m most excited for in my future in AAB is working with different people across the group to learn more about how things work for different people. Within AAB I’m excited about the integration path, aligning all our applications and processes across the group and just improving the efficiency of everything.”
“One of the AAB Group Values that really stands out to me is that ‘collaboration is our superpower’ – with the integration of firms, processes, and data I believe this is quite a relevant value for my role and I try to keep it in mind in my day-to-day jobs. There are always opportunities for collaboration, and I truly think it’s key to constantly improving our methods and processes; ensuring that we’re always doing things in the best, most efficient, accurate and reliable way.”
“My biggest strength is being able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. I know I work efficiently and accurately, and am constantly looking for processes and improved efficiencies to make life easier in the long run for everybody.”
