Meet the Private Client team
Globally Mobile Individuals. High Net Worth Individuals
Income Tax. Capital Gains Tax. UK Tax Reporting. Compliance for Non-UK residents. International and UK Tax Planning. Offshore Disclosures.
Rebecca Morrison is a Private Client Assistant Manager based in our Edinburgh office. She ensures clients stay compliant with their UK tax reporting obligations while providing bespoke tax planning and advice. Specialising in UK tax reporting for non-UK resident individuals, she has a deep understanding of international tax planning for those relocating to or from the UK.
“An ideal relationship with a client is all about trust. If we can communicate openly, understand each other’s expectations, and I can consistently deliver, then I know I’m doing my job right. Clients trust me to guide them through their tax obligations with transparency and reliability, and in return, I trust them to be open about their circumstances. It’s this mutual trust that forms the foundation of a successful working relationship.”
“Tax can be overwhelming, particularly when relocating. Moving between countries comes with a complex set of tax obligations, and I know how stressful that can be. My role is to take that weight off my clients’ shoulders. Whether they’re moving to the UK or heading overseas, I make sure their tax affairs are in order so they can focus on what really matters—whether that’s settling into a new country, growing their career, or simply enjoying better weather!”
“Working with international clients means being adaptable. I rarely work with people who are just down the road—most of my clients are overseas. That’s why AAB’s tech-enabled approach is invaluable. Regular virtual meetings allow me to provide a hands-on service no matter where in the world they are. But while technology makes things efficient, personal connection is still key. Trust is built when clients can put a face to a name, and I make sure that even in a virtual environment, they get the full AAB experience.”
“One of the biggest challenges in my role is keeping up with constant changes in tax legislation. International tax, in particular, is complex, with the ever-evolving double tax Agreements and reporting requirements. But that’s part of what keeps my job exciting—there’s always something new to learn. Fortunately, at AAB, I’m surrounded by a team with a wealth of experience, meaning there’s always someone who has dealt with a similar situation before. Having that support network allows me to continuously expand my knowledge and provide the best possible service to my clients.”
“At AAB, ‘Clients Are Our Passion’ isn’t just a value—it’s the reality of what we do every day. Many of the individuals I work with are overwhelmed, whether by looming deadlines or unexpected correspondence from HMRC. It’s incredibly rewarding to step in, reassure them, and deliver a solution that not only meets their needs but also provides peace of mind. Knowing that I’ve taken a stressful situation and turned it into a seamless process for my clients is what makes my job so fulfilling.”
“I’m a people person. Whether it’s my clients or my colleagues, I love communicating and building relationships. I take pride in my ability to explain complex tax matters in a way that makes sense to my clients. The last thing they need is jargon—they need clear, practical advice. When clients feel comfortable with me, they’re more likely to share their concerns, which means I can help them more effectively. Strong communication leads to stronger client relationships, and that’s what I strive for.”
“One of the biggest misconceptions about my profession is that tax is boring—or worse, that I’m here to make people pay more tax! The reality is quite the opposite. Every day is different, and each client has unique circumstances that require a tailored approach. More often than not, my work helps clients reduce their tax liabilities, ensuring they only pay what’s necessary. There’s nothing dull about that!”
