“Wearing my client hat to deliver”

Rebecca Davidson is a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager based in our Aberdeen office. She supports a wide range of clients ensuring they are compliant with their tax obligations. One day she might be supporting clients in the UK, while another she might be providing advisory services to large UK corporates who are looking to set up outside of the UK or large international corporates who are looking to set up in the UK. Being able to lean on the support networks of partners and affiliates we have across the world means that she is able to provide her clients with accurate and timely information that will benefit them.

Rebecca first joined AAB as a placement student in 2018 and has since worked her way up to become Assistant Manager. Since starting her career as a junior member of the team she has been able to work her way up by working diligently and providing a high-quality level of service to her clients. Acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring tax compliance is one less thing her clients have on their plate.

Working Together Towards a Common Goal

“In my role, people and relationships are at the heart of everything. I believe that having open and honest communication with clients is critical to success. When we establish clear dialogue, it becomes so much easier to talk about expectations—whether it’s what I need from the client, what they need from us, or the timeline to get everything done. With clear communication, we can set agreed deadlines and work towards them together. A strong relationship isn’t just a benefit; it’s a necessity. It builds trust, and that trust means the client knows we’re on their side, ready to do whatever it takes to meet deadlines and deliver results.

When we collaborate effectively, it feels like we’re working together toward the same goal. That level of trust means when I ask for information, the client knows why it’s important. They’re comfortable being fully transparent, knowing that I’m here to help them, not to pass judgment. It’s all about creating a partnership where everyone is on the same page.”

Tailored Advice That Fits

“I’m passionate about providing my clients with tailored, practical advice that makes sense for their specific situation. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution because every client’s business is unique. To offer advice that truly helps, I need to fully understand their business—what they do, where they want to go, and what challenges they face. Once I have that understanding, I can give advice that’s not only technically sound but also meaningful to them in the context of their goals.

I also believe in making complex tax issues digestible. Tax can be overwhelming, with technical jargon that often doesn’t translate into the day-to-day decisions business leaders need to make. I make sure I only provide the essential details—what matters to them—so they understand the implications clearly. For me, good service means empowering clients with the right knowledge so they can make informed decisions.”

Embracing Change and Constant Learning

“One of the most exciting challenges in Corporate Tax is the constant change. New legislation and regulations are always coming into effect, and it’s my job to keep my clients up to speed. It’s not just about changes in the UK either—many of our clients are affected by international tax laws, so we have to stay on top of developments abroad too. That’s why being part of AAB is such a great asset. When I need guidance or a second opinion, there’s always someone I can turn to. The support from my team ensures that I’m always able to give clients the most accurate and up-to-date advice.

I actually find the constant evolution of tax laws exciting. It means that I’m always learning, and so is everyone around me. No matter how experienced you are, you’re always sharpening your knowledge and adapting to new situations. It’s a great reminder that in this profession, we’re all in it together, learning and growing as a team.”
