“I’m passionate about finding the right people for our teams.”

Based in Aberdeen, Rachael Dunn plays a key role in the Resourcing function. She provides support to the Resourcing Manager and focuses on the recruitment process for both internal and external hires. Her primary responsibilities involve coordinating various aspects of the recruitment lifecycle, from advertising vacancies and sourcing candidates to organising interviews and assisting candidates successfully through the process.

For Rachel, working in recruitment is more than just filling roles; it’s about finding the right people who align with AAB’s values and long-term goals. She believes that effective recruitment is vital for ensuring that the company is equipped with the right talent to support both immediate and future growth.

Promoting a collaborative recruitment process

“I take pride in creating a seamless experience for everyone involved. I enjoy collaborating closely with hiring managers across the business, learning about their unique requirements and understanding the specific skills and expertise they need in their teams. This could involve working on roles that require niche qualifications or highly specific industry experience, and it’s always interesting to get insights into the different areas of the business.”

Ensuring that we recruit the right people for our vacancies requires building strong relationships not only with internal stakeholders but also with external partners. I’m often the first person candidates interact with when they apply for a role, so it’s important to make a strong first impression on behalf of AAB. A positive candidate experience is crucial in upholding our reputation and ensuring that from their very first introduction to AAB, they have a positive experience.”

Finding talent to drive success

“There’s something rewarding about helping to place the right people in the right roles, knowing they’ll make a positive impact on the business. Seeing a candidate succeed and thrive after joining AAB is what motivates me to continually improve our recruitment processes. I’m still early in my career, but I’ve already seen how recruitment plays a pivotal role in driving business success. Being able to match the right person to the right job, knowing they’ll bring fresh ideas and energy to their team, is a huge win for me.”

Embracing technology for broader reach

“With our investment in advanced technology, I’m able to engage with candidates from a variety of geographical locations and offer them flexibility through remote and hybrid working arrangements. Technology has completely reshaped the way we approach recruitment. We’re no longer bound by location, which allows us to broaden our search for the best candidates. It’s a great time to be involved in recruitment because we’re able to offer people a level of flexibility that might not have been available even a few years ago.”

Proactivity in a competitive job market

“The competition for talent is fierce, and we must move quickly when we identify strong candidates. Being able to act promptly and efficiently is crucial, especially when we’re up against other employers who are also eager to attract top talent. I’m always on the lookout for creative solutions to attract the right people. Whether it’s through social media campaigns, employee referral programs, or leveraging new technology platforms, I believe innovation is key to standing out in a crowded market.”

Building a strong future for AAB

“The recruitment landscape is constantly evolving, and I’m excited to be a part of that change. As AAB continues to grow, I’m committed to ensuring that we have the right people in place to drive our success and maintain our strong culture. I’m looking forward to further developing my skills and continuing to contribute to AAB’s success. It’s a fantastic place to work, and I’m proud to play a role in building the teams that make AAB the innovative and dynamic company that it is today.”
