Meet the Audit & Assurance team
Owner-managed businesses. SME’s. Large corporates.
External Audit. Statutory Accounts. Tax Compliance.
Owen Henry is an Audit Assistant Manager based in our Belfast office. He specialises in delivering high-quality audit and assurance services. It’s important for him that every audit not only meets but exceeds client expectations.
For Owen, no two days are the same, and that’s what makes his work so dynamic. He thrives on the variety of challenges and opportunities that arise with each new audit. Whether it’s digging into complex financial statements or identifying areas for improvement, is his ultimate goal is to add value to every business he works with.
“Success in auditing isn’t just about completing the audit; it’s about building strong, lasting relationships with our clients. I strive to be more than just an auditor and aim to deliver an effective audit by creating a strong, collaborative working relationship with my clients. I take the time to get to know their businesses and industries in depth, ensuring that my approach is always tailored to their specific needs. By focusing on mutual trust and open communication, I aim to help clients feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire audit process.
“There’s a common misconception that auditors are there to catch people out—that’s not the case at all. We’re here to help our clients thrive by identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering insights that make a real difference. Our approach goes beyond ticking boxes. Whether it’s identifying inefficiencies in processes or suggesting new ways to optimise business practices, we work with our clients to ensure they leave the audit better equipped for success.
“If we’ve learned anything over the last few years it’s that can adapt quickly and utilise technology to enable us to continue to provide an excellent service. Technology has helped us to improve efficiencies, streamline repetitive tasks, ensure our audits are delivered efficiently and have regular communication with our clients more readily. However, there’s sometimes no substitute for being there in person. I love getting to know my clients in their places of operation. To truly understand who they are, what they hope to achieve and how we can support them being onsite is invaluable.
At AAB we take a flexible approach, always. Every client is different, so we adapt and adjust our approach to meet their specific preferences and needs. Whether it’s conducting audits virtually or on-site, my priority is to ensure that the service provided is accessible, effective and adds value for the client.
“At AAB, we’re always learning from each other, and that’s something I value. We’re a team, and we support each other to grow and develop in our roles. In Audit, the power of collaboration cannot be denied. We all draw on the wide knowledge base at AAB to provide the best possible advice and support to our clients. This collaborative environment has helped me to develop my career, utilising the knowledge and experience of those more senior. That ethos extends far beyond just our audit team. If a client has a query for me that’s outside of my expertise there’s no shortage of experts that I can ask, and what’s even better is that they’ll be more than happy to help me and my client.
I believe that best reflects our core value that nothing is more important than our people- whether that’s clients or colleagues. This supportive, inclusive culture is something that we all value greatly.
“Every audit presents a new opportunity to make a difference for our clients. Seeing their success, knowing that I’ve contributed to it in some way, is incredibly rewarding. One of the most satisfying parts of my role is knowing that the audit we’ve delivered has made a tangible impact.”
