Main ingredient in Relationships is trust

“I definitely think that the main ingredient of a good client relationship is trust. Clients want regular contact, approachability and great service delivery. It’s important that they trust and believe we can and will deliver that for them. If they don’t trust our capabilities to do the job to a high standard for them then it makes our jobs that much harder. That’s why from the very beginning I strive to create a relationship with my clients that’s built upon trust. Strong communication from me to encourage the same from them. Having that in place from the offset means that we can work together to overcome any challenges, we feel comfortable airing any potential complications early on also”.

Working in a Knowledge sharing culture

“I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues at AAB. We work as a close-knit team which is amazing because we’re able to build a real knowledge sharing culture that is great for sharing clients wins but also things that haven’t worked so that other people in the team can learn from their mistakes. This is a great benefit for our diverse and wide-ranging client base. Our knowledge sharing culture means there’s always someone to ask for help and so many people t learn from at every level of the team, it’s amazing to be able to learn from such a diverse group of people but also to help junior members of the team to develop and grow in their roles”.

OVERCOMING THE Challenge of multiple changing legislations

“One of the greatest challenges I regularly come across in my role is understanding the different tax and social security legislation across different countries. In the same way these regularly change in the UK we’re always needing to keep up to date with legislative changes abroad. I really enjoy learning about them and it’s important that we do. Our clients expect a certain level of knowledge of the payroll processes for the country that their employees are operating in. Being up to date with any changes is beneficial for my clients and helps me to better offer them to help and support. To overcome this challenge we dedicate time to familiarising ourselves with the updated legislation changes. Being part of such a big team means that we can work together and share insights of changes and inform each other to make sure we’re all up to date. It’s great to be able to discuss with colleagues how these changes will affect our clients so we have best practice across all our clients.

More than pressing buttonS

“I think very often people don’t appreciate how much goes into payroll because there’s this assumption that it’s just pressing a button. It’s not always clear how much complexity there can be running a payroll and having to keep up with multiple countries ever changing legislation.”

tHE Power of thank you

“I recently had a client thank me- they said ‘thank you Lesley, for your extra dedication and hard work. We appreciate it and you!’ Which was really nice to hear. I care a lot about my clients and in the work I produce for them I try to ensure this shines through.  I strive to go above and beyond to get the job done. To have that hard work recognised was lovely. For us, delivering a great service is so important. Knowing that I’m making a difference and truly being valuable to my clients is so encouraging and makes me want to do better.”
