“I WANT TO HELP CLIENTS ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL THROUGH TAX”

Josh McCranor is an Assistant Manager in our Private Client team, based in our Glasgow office. His role involves working closely with clients across the whole business, assisting in compliance and advisory. No matter what problem a client has approached him with, Josh makes it his priority to deliver.

As an Assistant Manager, Josh supports junior members of the team with their training and development. This is something he is passionate about as he wants to use his knowledge and experience to help and support the next generation working in tax.

BUILDING SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS TAKES TWO

“For me, all successful client relationships are built on trust, open communication, and respect. It is so important for us to be on the same page and work towards achieving the clients’ goals. I am a people person, so building relationships with my clients comes naturally to me. Regular check-ins with clients help break down any barriers and enable them to feel comfortable coming to me with any questions or concerns, no matter how big or small. If it’s important to them, it’s important to me.”

An opportunity to continuously develop

“Collaborating with clients across all sectors brings variety to my role and I’m always eager to learn more about the sectors in which my clients operate. The benefit of working with such a diverse range of clients is seeing the different dynamics of businesses and what makes them successful. I’m always able to take something away from every client and often I find that knowledge can be applied to others. It’s not only beneficial for me to continuously develop and learn but my clients as well can benefit from this.  I take pride that clients put their trust in me.

Working as a team to achieve success

“To achieve success, I believe it is important to have a supportive team around you where you can share ideas, ask any questions, and solve issues together, and I feel fortunate to have this at AAB.

My clients know I am always there to support them as I know my colleagues across all departments at AAB are there to support me. There is no shortage of people I can turn to for advice and support. Working in this type of environment not only motivates me but enables us to provide the best advice and solutions to clients.”

With change comes opportunity

“In a world where tax regulations and legislation are constantly changing, keeping up to date and in the know can feel like a challenge. I know for clients this can feel daunting- but we are here to take that burden from them and give them support and advice that helps them to achieve their goals. It is our responsibility as their advisor to help and keep up with these changes.

The most important thing for me is to ensure that my clients know when there’s a change in rules and regulations, how that will impact them and what we can do to support this. It is important that we are proactive with changes and not reactive, I love being adaptable in my role and ensuring smooth transitions.”

TECHNOLOGY IS A HELP, NOT A HINDRANCE

“We’re living in a digital era, constantly adapting to how technology can improve our day-to-day life. I’m committed to keeping up to date with ever-changing technology, so I can continue to grow my skillset and provide the best service to my clients, and AAB is fully behind this.

I believe the technological advancements we’re seeing day-to-day help enhance the services and advice we can provide to clients making us, as advisors, more accessible than ever before. It allows for instant communication and dialogue, so clients don’t have to stress over issues of which they are uncertain. However, technology doesn’t solve every problem we face in taxation – it can’t speed up every process in the book, which is why open communication remains a key part of a successful relationship.”

LOOKING AHEAD

The future is looking busy and I’m excited to develop myself personally and professionally, gaining more experience across different sectors and industries to allow me to continue and provide tailored advice to clients.

Something that stands out to me about AAB is that despite the rapid growth the company has experienced, which shows no sign of slowing down, it’s not impacted the personable element of the services and support we provide. I’m excited to build on my existing relationships with clients and create new ones in the future.”
