Emma Maginn is a Business Advisory Assistant Manager based in our Newry office. Emma provides her clients with timely, accurate advice across a range of sectors and sizes. This might be the preparation of their annual accounts, management accounts or ensuring that their businesses are compliant with all statutory filing requirements. No matter how she helps her clients Emma ensures that she delivers a high-quality service each and every time that is delivered on time and on budget.

Providing advice and support

“I always ensure that I am on hand to provide my clients with advice and support. Even if it is outside of my knowledge base being part of such a big firm like AAB means that I can get the answer for my clients from someone else. Being able to provide the answers to their queries helps us to establish strong relationships with our clients where there is mutual trust and respect.

I pride myself on investing time and effort to get to know our clients and their businesses. Beyond just what they do, I aim to know what their goals are so we are much more informed in our assurances and much better positioned to offer them advice, guidance. It also means that we’re able to provide them with other service recommendations that we know they’ll benefit from, and that will help improve their business.”

Putting experience into practice

“The most satisfying aspect of working with clients is the gratification obtained when you complete, an assignment and they are pleased with the output. I enjoy working with clients across different sectors and seeing their passion for their business and learning what is important to them.

Coming from my own family background in a 4th generation family business, I value the role family businesses have in our economy and their dedication to business as they try to keep the business passing through the generations. They have a vested interest in their success and progression that I believe is important and that I aim to match. I love getting to know my clients and their businesses.”

Progressing with the best

“Having first joined as a placement student in 2018 to now completing my charter journey with AAB I am gratefully for the guidance and expertise awarded to me through collaboration with colleagues.

I am confident my growth would not have been as accelerated had I been elsewhere. It is that ethos I aim to now pass on to those coming behind me, as I climb the ladder, I keep one eye behind to encourage the team to all advance together. With each team member bringing their own strengths to the table we are able to grow and improve as one unit.”

Striking a good balance

“In moving with the times, I enjoy the challenge of becoming comfortable and adept with new tech enabled business. I can appreciate how tech provides opportunities for gaining efficiencies and unveiling methods of analysing data that was not previously been readily available.

However, I can also appreciate that sometimes nothing beats the face-to-face experience and getting in a room with our clients cements our focus on clients as a priority. Therefore, I make it a target to have that in-person meeting at regular intervals.”

My greatest strengths

“I am the persistent optimist; I believe with the right positive mental attitude and bit of determination no challenge is too big. I’m highly dedicated to my work, I ensure that I’m continuously providing the best quality of service to all my clients This pairs well with my focus on being a strong team player, I like to think that I’m a very approachable person too and always make time to listen to and support my colleagues.”
