Claire Scanlan is an Audit Manager in our Belfast office, bringing extensive experience and dedication to her role in audit and assurance. Known for her attention to detail and commitment to high standards, Claire works with a wide range of clients, ensuring each project is handled with care and professionalism. Beyond her client work, Claire is passionate about helping the team grow, offering training, mentorship, and guidance to support junior team members as they build their skills and careers in audit.
Claire’s approach to working with clients’ centres on trust, open communication, and a genuine effort to understand each client’s business. She believes this personal connection enables her to offer tailored advice that goes beyond routine audits to add real value. By combining her technical knowledge with a warm, collaborative style, Claire has built strong relationships with her clients and earned respect within her team.
For me, a strong client relationship starts with trust and open communication. I see each interaction as an opportunity to connect and gain a better understanding of each client’s unique challenges, goals, and industry. This insight not only improves the audit services I provide but also helps me offer meaningful advice that supports their goals. I aim to build solid, long-term relationships with clients where they feel comfortable turning to me for support and guidance. It means a lot to know they trust that I understand their business and am here to help them succeed.
One of the most rewarding parts of my role is the variety it offers—I work with businesses across many sectors, each with unique challenges and opportunities. No two days are the same, which keeps me engaged and constantly learning. This variety requires adaptability, critical thinking, and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge. Each client teaches me something new, whether it’s about an unfamiliar industry or fresh perspectives on managing financial complexities. This dynamic keeps me motivated and continuously growing my expertise across industries.
Mentoring junior team members is something I really enjoy. I’ve had some great mentors myself, and I know how important it is to have someone to guide you along the way. Passing on what I’ve learned and seeing junior team members grow in skill and confidence is incredibly rewarding. I hope to help the next generation of auditors become skilled in their work and genuinely value building strong client relationships.
The audit sector is fast-paced and deadline-driven, which can be challenging. Staying on top of changing accounting and audit standards requires a proactive approach and flexibility. Managing tight deadlines and adapting to clients’ expectations is part of the job, and I’ve developed ways to maintain quality under pressure.
As the industry evolves, my commitment to learning and growth remains strong. I’m passionate about staying up to date with best practices, both for myself and my team, so we can serve our clients better. Looking to the future, I’m excited to keep building my knowledge, taking on new challenges, and contributing to a culture of excellence and innovation in audit.
