“i enjoy finding simple solutions to complex problems.”

Anca-Mariana Lubera is a Senior Customs Consultant at AAB. As part of our dedicated VAT & Customs team, Anca-Mariana proudly helps AAB’s clients to drive their trade strategy in a way that allows them to be first in class when it comes to compliance and saving costs.

Working remotely, she helps with a large array of services within Customs, and is also a member of our dedicated Food & Drink sector team.

UNWAVERING DEDICATION

“To my mind an ideal client relationship is based on professionalism, communication and an unwavering dedication and care towards addressing the client’s business needs. The worldwide Customs Compliance framework can be quite complex, and many customers struggle at navigating, understanding, and implementing the legal requirements enforced by Customs Authorities across the jurisdictions they trade in. I have always been keen on driving clear and effective communication. I found that this often helps built trust in AAB’s expertise to address the issues faced by our clients or to simply present opportunities to optimise their processes and drive cost-savings.”

DELIVERING EFFECTIVE RESULTS

“Our clients’ expectations are often revolving around finding simple solutions to complex problems, delivering effective results, reassurance that they can overcome trade and compliance barriers and ultimately clear and honest communication. I always aim to undertake client work with a high level of care and due diligence, contributing to the improvement of their internal processes and promoting change, when necessary, approach which is often highly appreciated by traders.”

BEING AT THE HEART OF CLIENTS’ BUSINESSES

“One of the most satisfying parts of my role is to be at the heart of the client’s business, understand the way they operate so that I can then focus on implementing appropriate solutions that benefits them financially and operationally.

Equally, working alongside an experienced, supportive and passionate team – that shares the same values and objectives – is extremely enjoyable and rewarding. There are a lot of colleagues in the Customs Team and the wider AAB group that I truly look up to. For a relatively young professional like me, it is important to have those role models around because they often motivate you to strive for the standards they have set.”

DISRUPTIVE THINKING

“I truly believe in the concept of disruptive thinking aligned with assertiveness when it comes to business development. This way of thinking shapes the future of all industries, it generates innovative and unconventional ideas that have the potential to drive markets and industries forward – to better opportunities and ways of working.”

WORKING WITH NEW TECH

“I consider myself a tech-savvy professional and I always enjoy working in new and tech-enabled ways. This has helped me to automate processes where possible and be cost-effective and efficient across the services offered to our clients. The way companies trade has considerably evolved over the past few years and digitalisation has contributed massively to better processes being implemented by customs authorities and commercial entities.

Likewise, adopting a hands-on attitude towards our clients’ requirements has always been a key success across the work I deliver. Taking the time to have face – to – face interactions, listen the client’s concerns, navigating system complexities together, providing immediate and effective assistance and ultimately being a reliable partner that is always there to address business needs and crisis situations, has been the core of what we do differently at AAB.”

GLOBAL CHALLENGES

“In the last few years, a variety of worldwide events have considerably impacted the International Trade framework. Commercial entities have had a hard time to keep up with all the new legislative requirements and changes implemented in the UK and overseas. This has often led to involuntary non-compliance and to product marketability limitations.

I pride myself on being that reliable partner, that helps our clients navigate through all these blocks in the best possible way, with a view to minimise the burdens they face on Customs compliance, duty expenditure, logistics and product availability. Prior to joining AAB, I have worked in various commercial compliance roles in the manufacturing and retail sectors. Following that, I have also worked as a compliance specialist investigator for HMRC. Therefore, my background enables me to deal with commercial and compliance challenges in a confident, proactive and efficient manner.”

PART OF AN AMAZING TEAM

“I am delighted to be part of an amazing team, working with clients across many sectors and contributing towards AAB’s growth. I am looking forward to all the future opportunities here at AAB both personally and companywide.”

PEOPLE-FOCUSED

“One of AAB Group’s values is: ‘Nothing is more important than our people.’ I admire that AAB’s culture is so focused on its people. This is evident every day, based on how people interact with each other, how they always strive to support one another during challenging times and how they create growth and learning opportunities together, beyond any job hierarchy. This is a healthy working environment that encourages collaboration and inspires me to be a better person and professional.”

RESILIENT & DEDICATED

“Generally, I am not the type of person who likes their work to showcase their capabilities, but I’ll try… I believe my strengths are a strong work ethic, resilience, dedication, and a continuous desire to learn and deliver the best results.”

A ‘HUMAN ENCYCLOPAEDIA’

“I recently had a client refer to me as a ‘human encyclopaedia’, which was a great compliment! I have also been told by a client that they never would have been able to achieve the result they did without my help – things like that are always really nice to hear.”

WOULDN’T CHANGE A THING

“There genuinely isn’t anything I dislike about my profession – I love my profession with all its complexities and hurdles to overcome. I honestly wouldn’t change anything!”
