“COLLABORATION IS FUNDAMENTAL TO ACHIEVING BUSINESS SUCCESS.”

Alex Dent is a people & culture services senior manager based in Leeds. Alex drives process improvement across the People & Culture (PAC) Services team, ensuring a smooth employee experience. Specialising in managing the employee life cycle, Alex focuses on enhancing onboarding processes, handling employee changes, and implementing benefits and payroll integration.

By streamlining these operations, Alex enables the PAC team to concentrate on value-added projects that benefit the entire business. This dedication to efficiency helps the PAC team provide top-tier service to AAB, which ultimately contributes to improving the overall employee experience.

A RELATIONSHIP OF EQUAL FOOTING

“In my role, I help all colleagues across the group by listening to their needs and providing honest feedback to improve their experience. The ideal relationship I strive for with clients is based on mutual respect, where both sides can openly discuss requirements to ensure smooth collaboration. The most satisfying part of my job is meeting people across the business and finding ways to support them effectively. When I know I can make their day-to-day work easier, that’s when I feel I’ve made a meaningful impact.”

CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO

“I believe that being assertive and challenging the way things have always been done is key to driving meaningful change. In my role, it’s important not to be afraid of disrupting the norm, especially in a dynamic and growing business like AAB. The biggest challenge in People & Culture services is keeping up with evolving demands while ensuring employees have the best possible experience. By managing expectations and continuously improving processes, we can make sure our team stays adaptable and effective.”

INFORMATION AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

“A virtual approach helps streamline processes and gives team members information at their fingertips in a business where time is precious. Enabling colleagues to find information quickly is important, however there are occasions where a human touch is needed, and it is important that colleagues feel comfortable to approach us when they need to. The balance between the two will always vary but we are willing to adapt to the circumstances, whilst educating AAB teams on the benefits of a virtual system.”

EXCITING GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES AND ADAPTABILITY

“I have a keen eye for detail, and I understand the need for flexibility. Working daily with people data across a large business requires accuracy and an organised approach. In a growing business like AAB, knowing that business demands can change frequently and being able to adapt quickly is key.

AAB’s growth presents an exciting opportunity for everyone involved. Personally, I’m looking forward to contributing to the company’s success by continuously improving our People & Culture services. The fast-paced nature of AAB means there’s always a chance to grow, both professionally and personally. It’s an exciting time to be part of the team, and I’m eager to play a role in shaping the company’s future.”

COLLABORATION IS KEY TO SUCCESS

“Collaboration is one of AAB’s core values that resonates strongly with me. By working together, we can leverage the best ideas and experiences from all parts of the business. It’s about fostering an environment where everyone’s input is valued, and success is a shared goal. As a manager, I make sure to involve my team in projects, encouraging them to bring their unique perspectives and helping them develop new skills. Collaboration is fundamental to achieving our goals and ensuring that the PAC team can deliver the best service possible to the group.”
