“I’m dedicated to offering innovative solutions and fostering open, collaborative relationships”

Akim Kiku is a Global Employment Assistant Manager based in our London office. In his role, Akim works with a team of Global Employment Tax Managers and Global Analysts to support clients in managing end-to-end relocations, global compensation and tax calculations. Whether it’s permanent transfers or long/short term assignments, Akim takes pride in playing an integral part in ensuring a smooth journey for all of his customers.

Akim also collaborates with numerous teams across the business on projects aimed at improving services and enhancing the customer experience.

The foundation of great relationships

“When working with clients, I focus on three key elements: trust, respect, and communication. I have my clients’ best interests at heart and I’ve found that they value transparency and clear communication at every stage.

I aim for clients to see us as an extension of their team, working in true partnership. This approach ensures we all get the most out of working together.

I am a strong advocate for the importance of customer and client feedback. Listening to understand their needs is crucial and I believe in collaborating with my colleagues to find effective ways to adapt and address those needs. It’s essential to demonstrate that we’ve not only heard their feedback, but also taken meaningful action based on it.”

Playing my part in key career moments

“Relocating can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, whether you’re a first-time relocatee or a client managing international talent recruitment. Providing a friendly and knowledgeable face to trust, along with the technology to facilitate a smooth process, is incredibly rewarding.”

Sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues

“I am a people person and one of the favourite aspects of my role is working closely with both clients and colleagues. In my opinion, there is nothing better than coming together as a team to bounce ideas off of one another, especially when faced with unique and complex situations. I love pooling our collective knowledge and experience to find the best solutions for our clients.”

Helping to mitigate differences

“One of the biggest challenges in supporting someone through a new career journey is navigating the cultural differences they may encounter in their new environment. Whether it’s adjusting to varying business practices or adapting to local customs, the cultural landscape can be complex and diverse.

I love playing the role of mediator in these situations, helping set expectations with the help of our cultural specialists and easing the transition for our clients. It’s incredibly rewarding to use my knowledge and expertise to make their move smoother and more seamless. Clients value this aspect of working with us, knowing that we’re with them every step of the way to support in their integration.”

Human touch is needed

“Technology plays a significant role, driving efficiencies and helping alleviate pressures whilst minimising human error. At AAB we utilise technology in a way that is already very impressive, however, there are still so many places and so much more that we can do with it. I’m excited to see where the product can go when we incorporate technology that much more. Adapting technology and functionality will make us more rounded and help us to create a more attractive package.

However, I believe the human element remains essential in this role, as each relocation is unique and involves working closely with people at every stage. Whilst it is important to leverage technology, it is equally crucial to maintain a balance by adding that personal touch.”

Bringing positivity every day

“Akim, it hit me today how much of a positive impact you’ve had on everyone”. This testimony from a former colleague was lovely to hear and also reflects the impression I aim to leave on everyone I work with in my role.
