HOW I HELP

Bringing Cloud accounting solutions.

SECTORS/SUPPORT

I work across all sectors and industries.

“WE ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS.”

Based in our Glasgow office, Pauline manages our Cloud Accounting team, helping businesses undergoing conversions from previous systems, setting up new systems, and responding to any queries from clients regarding Cloud-based accounting. Her FCCA qualification and broad experience helps her give advice to clients on solutions that consider the many aspects of accounting.

“I’m lucky in that I am genuinely interested in finding out about our clients’ businesses – what they do, and how they do things, and why they do them in a certain way – which is pretty crucial information to have when coming to them with specific solutions that I know are going add value, streamline their processes, save them time, and just generally be a good fit for them.”

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX

“When we’re trying to figure out which solutions are going to be a good fit for clients, we ask the usual questions like ‘how do you do these processes now?’ and ‘what do your reports look like?’ to see if we can replicate that with Cloud-based systems and processes. But we also try to think outside the box, and dig a little bit deeper.

For example, we’ll ask what’s particularly important to the client, what is the actual use of certain things, which parts are adding value. So rather than just going with similar to what’s been done before, we’ll think ‘how can we do it differently now and make sure it makes everybody’s life easier?’”

KEEPING UP TO DATE IN AN EVER-CHANGING LANDSCAPE

“The other virtual tools we use in the work we do, like Teams, for example, allows people to get more done. You don’t necessarily need to travel to various different places for three meetings in a day. I don’t mind virtual meetings at all, but I do think there are certain things that are better to sit around the table for, you know, or if you’re meeting a client for the first time, it’s actually really nice to go out on site and see the layouts and the processes and how the office works etc. in person.

MORE ACCURATE THAN HUMANS

“One of the greatest challenges, I think, is just probably keeping up to date with all the changes in software. Cloud products are continually updating, so it’s important that we keep up with these as much as possible. For data capture, for invoices – there’s all kinds of clever software and add-ons that you can use now.

People can be a bit scared of the systems in use these days, but they can usually be more accurate than humans – if you can imagine sitting down and entering a thousand invoices in a week, of course you’re going to make some mistakes.  And while artificial intelligence is not perfect, you can program things to be posted in a consistent way every time, so there’s far less chance of user error.”

AN EXCITING PLACE TO BE

“As these systems keep expanding and improving, we can offer clients all kinds of solutions. We’re already doing amazing things with tech, and it has even more potential. So, as a tech enabled business services provider, AAB is a really exciting place to be.”
