Annmarie is a Manager in our Business Advisory Services team, working with owner managed and families business to handle both their corporate and personal tax affairs. 

Based in our Aberdeen office, Annmarie has an established client base across the energy, fishing, food & drink and construction & property sectors.

The role I have is more than just preparing annual accounts and corporate tax returns. I provide advice to my clients on how to save money and grow their business, acting as a true partner and advisor. In terms of helping them achieve their personal goals, I guide them through tax efficient ways of withdrawing profits from their business by use of salaries, dividends, effective pension planning, company loans and share options.”

“Due to the personal and business combination, you just never know what question you will get asked next, so it makes for an exciting environment. As well as this, tax rules and legislations are constantly changing.  

Obviously, we need to keep on top of this for our clients, but it makes for a very rewarding environment as I am always learning and developing my career. This is really motivating for me. I hate letting people down and really care about the work I produce, always aiming to go above and beyond for clients.”

“People definitely still have it in their heads that accountants are all boring, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Every day is different, working with a different mix of clients and colleagues so it is a really good working environment. 

I’m also surrounded by a great team. I learn a lot from my colleagues and also find it really rewarding helping the junior members of our team. It is a busy time when you are juggling work and exams, so I like to help in any way I can.  

There is also definitely a ‘work hard play hard’ culture at AAB, so its always fun to spend time with the team and the wider business teams.”
