Meet the Audit & Assurance team
Not for profit organisations. Publicly funded organisations. Charitable organisations.
Audit and assurance services.
Education. Leisure, retail & hospitality. Construction & property.
Suzanne Villiers is a manager within our Audit team. She specialises in providing audit and assurance services to Not for Profit and charitable organisations, helping them to navigate an everchanging regulatory environment.
Suzanne works alongside her colleagues in tax and advisory services to provide a diverse range of services to her clients. She supports her clients in planning for change and helps them to identify what the organisation will need in the future to ensure proper compliance.
The main sectors within which Suzanne’s clients operate are education, hospitality, and construction, although she also has wider experience in large private sector organisations.
Suzanne also sits on our Public Sector & Not for Profit sector team.
“In my opinion, the ideal client relationship is one in which the client recognises the value in the service we provide. Audit is compliance and therefore some clients see this as a ‘ticking the box exercise.’ The clients I enjoy working with the most are those that it is as an opportunity to learn new things about their business and work with me for a successful outcome. In my years of experience, these are the clients that I look forward to working with annually, that will call throughout the year with new challenges, and I can redirect their query to an expert or assist where possible. They can always expect quality service, honesty, and challenge and feedback where helpful, from me.”
“I can honestly say that my work with clients is never boring! I am constantly learning so much working with such a diverse range of clients. The ability to take insights from a successful business, understand and process it and then apply this to other clients is something that keeps me working in this sector. No two days are the same.”
“I love working as part of team, sharing, and learning from one another. I think this is how you get the best out of an organisation as no one person is the “complete package”. Our real strength is in teamwork. Taking the individual strengths from all members of our team is how you can provide the best client service. It’s also a huge part of why I love coming to work – every day I feel genuinely supported.”
“It is important to move with the times and we need to ensure that our technology continues to improve. I believe we should engage with software such as Inflo to improve and manage communications with clients, but do so without replacing the personal touch that is provided by working on site with clients, observing their business, and communicating directly. The benefit of new tools is that they can quickly do the lower risk aspects of my jobs such as processing, so that I can spend more time working with clients on the things that add value.”
“The most challenging aspect of my work is the constant state of change. Accounting standards are getting more complex, so it is important to stay up to date – this includes updates in climate and sustainability reporting for example. Finding time to ensure that I am ahead of these changes and can communicate them effectively to my clients is crucial.”
“It’s a really exciting time to be a part of AAB. There’s so much growth happening, including in our Not for Profit sector group across the island of Ireland.”
“The greatest strength I bring to AAB Group is empathy – I care about people, and when I commit to something I truly want it to succeed. I take the most pleasure in seeing those in my team and my clients succeed because of something I have done or suggested.”
“I know that clients enjoy working with me and that I am trusted. I don’t like letting people down, whether in my personal life or professional life and I truly believe that if you commit to something you should deliver a quality service in return.”
