Meet the Corporate Tax team
SMEs. Owner-managed businesses. Large corporates.
Assisting clients in relation to their Corporate Tax compliance. Answering client queries.
Family Business. Construction & Property. Industrial. Technology.
Gavin Fox is an assistant manager in our Corporate Tax team. Day to day, the main focus of Gavin’s role is guiding clients through the corporate tax compliance process. He is responsible for the preparation and submission of clients’ Corporate Tax Returns, as well as being available to answer any questions or queries they may have. Additionally, he is also involved in various Tax Consultancy and Research & Development assignments where required.
Gavin has a diverse range of clients from SMEs, owner-managed businesses to large corporates. No two clients are the same which Gavin finds makes the work that bit more interesting!
Our Corporate Tax team works closely with our Business Advisory Services and Audit teams, constantly communicating to ensure that each client’s compliance is accurate and complete.
When required, Gavin also supports our Consultancy and Company Secretarial teams, having previously spent time in these roles throughout his time at AAB.
“For me, the ideal client relationship is one that has regular communication between both parties. It makes our job a lot easier when we can speak and communicate with our clients to help complete the work required of us. By having regular conversations, we can keep our clients up to date with the latest changes and information that might benefit them and their business. Clients should be able to contact us with any issues they may have, and we will do our best to help them or point them in the right direction.”
“There is a time and place for both the virtual and more ‘hands-on’ routes to communicating, but I think a more genuine experience is had when you are able to meet a client face to face and have a proper conversation in person.
However, the virtual route is essential in relation to the day to day work we complete. Being able to jump on a quick teams call or drop a client an email helps speed things up and allows us to deliver the service expected by our clients more efficiently.”
“The ever-changing nature of the tax landscape will always be the greatest challenge to anyone working in tax. From one budget to the next nothing stays the same. In response to these changes you need to be proactive and prepare yourself for the changes that come.”
“For myself personally I am excited to continue to develop on a professional level, building upon the foundations that I have laid as a trainee over the past number of years. In relation to AAB, I am excited about the continued growth of the group and look forward to being a part of that journey.”
“Personally, I believe my positive attitude and enthusiasm is one of my greatest strengths, fitting in well with our group value that “we have an ethos of positivity, enthusiasm, and fun. It’s said that there are people that give you energy and people that take it away, and I hope I am someone who gives other people energy. Regardless of the task or challenge anything can be overcome with the right attitude and mindset, both individually and collectively as a team.”
“There is sometimes this perception that every accountant is the same, which couldn’t be further from the truth! Yes, we all learn our credits and debits but the modern accountant is a lot more complex. A lot of accountants today specialise in areas which interest them.”
