Family Business: Why Family Business Succession Fails (and How to Fix It)
AAB / Our Team / Ezmi Brockley
Meet the Private Client team
High-net-worth individuals. Residential property owners. Families. Individuals with complex personal or capital gains tax needs.
Personal tax compliance. Capital gains tax reporting. Residential property CGT calculations. HMRC liaison and penalty appeals. Tailored tax planning. Clear explanations of complex rules. Client reassurance. Detailed review and accurate completion of tax returns.
With over nine years of experience in personal tax, ATT-qualified Ezmi Brockley is a dedicated Private Client Assistant Manager based in Bolton, specialising in personal and capital gains tax. She works closely with individuals to prepare and review self-assessment tax returns, manage capital gains tax on residential property disposals, and support clients through HMRC queries, including appeals against penalties.
At the heart of Ezmi’s approach is a genuine commitment to helping clients feel informed, supported, and in control of their tax affairs. She takes pride in breaking down complex rules and providing clear, practical guidance that reflects each client’s unique circumstances. Whether identifying reliefs, navigating property-related tax challenges, or helping clients understand their obligations, she is focused on delivering a service that is accurate, reliable, and tailored to their needs.
“I believe strong relationships are essential in personal tax. When clients trust me, they feel comfortable discussing their circumstances openly – and that’s when I can provide advice that genuinely supports their goals. I stay in regular contact, keep things approachable, and always take the time to explain complex rules clearly and practically.”
“Many people assume tax advisers are the ‘bad guys’, but our role is the opposite. We’re here to guide clients through the rules, ensure compliance, and legitimately save tax wherever possible. My aim is always to make clients feel looked after, informed, and confident.”
“What I find most satisfying in my role is seeing the relief on a client’s face when a stressful situation becomes manageable. Whether that’s reducing a liability, resolving an HMRC issue, or simply explaining something in a way that makes sense, it’s incredibly rewarding to know I’ve made a real difference.”
“Working within the Private Client team means having access to a depth of knowledge and experience that’s invaluable. The collaborative environment allows us to provide clients with high-quality, well-considered advice – no matter how complex their situation.”
“A recent challenge involved a client with an unexpected capital gains tax bill after selling a residential property. By reviewing their situation in detail and liaising with HMRC, I identified reliefs they qualified for. It transformed a difficult experience into a positive outcome and gave the client real peace of mind.”
“One of the best compliments I’ve received is that I make the tax process feel easier and far less daunting. Hearing that from clients means a lot – it reflects my commitment to being approachable, supportive, and clear every step of the way.”
“My specialist areas – particularly capital gains tax on residential property – can be complex and stressful for clients. I approach these challenges with attention to detail, clear communication, and a focus on identifying reliefs, ensuring compliance, and helping clients understand their position.”
“One of the biggest misconceptions about my profession is that tax advisers are here to catch people out. In reality, we’re here to help clients stay compliant, manage their responsibilities, and make the most of legitimate allowances and reliefs. Our role is supportive, not punitive.”
“My strengths lie in accuracy, clarity, and providing a tailored approach for every client. I take great care to meet deadlines, maintain high standards, and ensure my advice is both practical and easy to understand.”
“Looking ahead, my goal is to help clients navigate their tax affairs with confidence and peace of mind. By continually developing my knowledge, particularly around property-related tax changes and evolving HMRC processes, I can continue delivering the high level of service my clients deserve.”
